CGI is looking for a Java Developer with strong experience in Java and Python/ Groovy/Shell scripting, The ideal candidate needs to have solid Java, SQL expertise, and a background in building and supporting data pipelines in product development environments, including large-scale data migration initiatives.
Candidates must have strong collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to ensure requirements are translated into specific solutions.
This role is hybrid and requires you to be at Markham at a minimum 3 days per week - subject to change at any time.
• You will be working as Java / Python Data Migration Script Developer based on the scope of work in a Product development/maintenance environment
• Develop and maintain scripts using Python/Groovy/Shell to support ETL pipelines, data transformations, and operational tasks.
• Design, build, and manage ETL workflows using Apache NiFi , Pentaho or other enterprise ETL tools when needed .
• Write and optimize SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, and validation across structured data sources.
• Support large-scale data migration projects with focus on performance, data integrity, and scalability.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional products and engineering teams to deliver high-quality data solutions.
• Use tools such as Jenkins for CI/CD automation, and Jira/Confluence for project tracking and documentation.
• Monitor and troubleshoot ETL jobs, perform root cause analysis, and continuously improve data pipeline reliability.
• 5+ of experience in Java development
• Strong scripting experience with Python/Groovy/Shell in data integration and workflow automation.
• 5+ years of experience working with Oracle Database and SQL
• Solid experience in Java/JEE, Batch development, API development
• Hands-on experience with Apache NiFi or any equivalent ETL platform.
• Exposure to large-scale data migrations and high-volume data processing.
• Experience using Jira, Confluence, and Jenkins in Agile product development environments.
• Exposure to AI tools – Copilot, GCP Vertex AI
• Ability to work in collaborative teams and deliver results in a fast-paced product lifecycle.
• Experience in working with large scale batch processing applications
• Experience in CI-CD automation
• Experience with GCP and Cloud Migration (Nice to have)
• Experience with development life cycle including Source control (Bitbucket, Git, etc.), build scripts (Maven), development of unit tests (JUnit).
• Familiar in Agile/Scrum methodology.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
