AtkinsRéalis is seeking an ITS/Traffic Engineer to join our NC ITS/Traffic Team. This is an entry-level position in Raleigh, NC.
Your roleDesign and develop plans and drawings, which may include the development of preliminary layout and/or final drawings related to ITS and Traffic design. Specifically, our work includes traffic signal design, fiber optic communications cable routing and splicing, utility coordination, signing and striping, traffic safety studies, and more.Organize and conduct ITS and Traffic engineering investigations, planning, and analysis which have a well-defined scope.Outline and prepare relatively straightforward technical reports of sections of more complex reports, working under the periodic review of a more experienced professional.Research feasibility of alternative design approaches, site conditions, regulatory agency specifications, industry best practices, state of the practices, and emerging technologies.Contributes to the development of specifications and permit applications and writes miscellaneous reports. Prepares preliminary man-hour, cost and material quantity estimates.Participates in quality control checks, maintaining quality standards in all work produced, checking computations, and/or reviewing reports, designs, and drawings developed by others.Coordinate with other disciplines as required. Perform field observations of construction where appropriate.Perform such other duties as the supervisor may from time to time deem necessary.About youEDUCATION: Minimal experience is required of incumbents with a Bachelor's Degree in a branch of Engineering directly related to hiring discipline; no experience required with a Master's degree.EXPERIENCE: Completion of Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering degree from an ABET accredited college/university.SPECIAL SKILLS:Basic computer skills required to enter data into spreadsheets or databases.Math skills to perform simple calculations; willingness to learn.Proficiency in Microsoft Office.Experience with AutoCAD or MicroStation (preferred).Proficient interpersonal and communications skills.Capability to develop technical writings and reports.PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATIONS: NoneRewards & benefitsAt AtkinsRéalis, our values—Safety, Integrity, Collaboration, Innovation, and Excellence—are more than just words.
