ITS Systems Technician - Ocoee, FL

As an ITS Systems Technician, you’ll join a collaborative team ensuring that our clients can deliver their services - uninterrupted. Based in Ocoee, FL, you’ll be responsible for monitoring, configuring, auditing, and automating Traffic Management Center (TMC) software systems—including SunGuide—while supporting integration, testing, and upgrades. In this role, you will develop and maintain automation scripts/workflows to streamline operations, enhance system efficiency, and support both statewide and Turnpike ITS initiatives. Position is office-based with periodic field visits for automation deployments or on-site troubleshooting. Key Responsibilities 1. Software Configuration & Management • Oversee SunGuide software deployment—including configuration, integration testing, and version control on field devices. • Maintain relational and system databases supporting TMC and other ITS systems. 2. Systems Monitoring, Reporting & Automation • Monitor system health, performance metrics, and configurations. • Automate routine monitoring tasks (e.g., alerts, configuration checks) via scripts and scheduling tools to improve responsiveness and reduce manual workload. • Generate automated reports and anomaly alerts; collaborate with Systems Analyst for escalation protocols. 3. Integration, Testing & Automation Support • Coordinate integration of third-party software and new hardware into TMC systems. • Develop and maintain automation for regression testing, upgrades, and validation workflows (e.g., auto-testing SunGuide HF installs). • Conduct regular SIT/UAT for SunGuide patches and features (weather alerts, RCA, MVDS, etc.). 4. Issue & Enhancement Management • Log, track, and prioritize software bugs and enhancement requests via statewide ticketing. • Automate ticket generation and status tracking to improve SLA compliance. • Provide root cause analysis support and facilitate solution deployment across teams. 5. Project Support & Cross-Functional Collaboration • Support ITS and automation initiatives, including: • SunGuide 9.0 HF 1 upgrade and automated testing setup • GIS migration support via data automation tools • Configuring and automating ADMS travel time route publications • CV/AI integration and automation (e.g., triggers for dynamic changes, data feeds) • Queue warning system (QWS), ITSIQA deployment, and truck parking automation • 3rd-party data integration pipelines and dissemination workflows 6. Technical Support & Training • Provide guidance and training to internal and field staff on automation tools, monitoring dashboards, and TMC workflows. • Assist teams in configuring, deploying, and troubleshooting automation scripts and consolidated control interfaces. Bring your team-focus, adaptability, and commitment to excellence, and we’ll help you grow what drives you - and deliver the world’s most challenging Operations. #OMFS #BIA #OurJacobs #BoldlyMovingForward #ChallengeAccepted • Strong operational knowledge of TMC environments and the ability to script and automate workflows. • Strong knowledge of CCTV, VDS/MVDS, and DMS • SunGuide certification or equivalent hands-on experience • Associate’s degree (or equivalent experience) in ITS, computer science, engineering, or related field • Experience with scripting languages (Python, PowerShell, Bash) and automation frameworks • Competency in database administration (SQL) and integration tools/APIs • Familiarity with software lifecycle: automation for SIT/UAT, CI/CD, RTT, ticketing systems (ServiceNow) • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills • Drivers license with no major infractions • Occasional flexible hours during critical upgrades or incidents Ideally, here’s what you will also have: • Knowledge of GIS, Connected Mobility, AI systems, RCA, and remote monitoring tools • Familiarity with SCADA principles, PLC/RTU programming, and alarm-rule automation Working Conditions & Physical Requirements: The physical and environmental demands required to perform the essential duties of this position include standing, walking, sitting, coordination, balance and agility demands, which may include the ability to stoop, kneel, squat, grasp, reach, perform repetitive hand movements. Additional demands may involve a specific level of dexterity, grip strength, climbing and cardiorespiratory demands. The work areas may be indoor, outdoor, have loud noise, active machinery, high pressure fluid systems, electrical equipment, confined spaces, heights and depths, fumes, air borne particles, noxious gases, and chemicals.
