Job Description

The Endpoint Support Specialist will serve as an administrator for ManageEngine Endpoint Central, driving high-level security compliance and operational health across the organization’s workstation fleet. This role is responsible for bridging the gap between security mandates (Qualys/SOC) and technical execution, specifically focusing on reaching a 95% patch compliance rate and maintaining the Windows lifecycle. By leveraging Endpoint Central’s automation and reporting capabilities, the Specialist ensures that hardware health and software hygiene are managed proactively rather than reactively.

 

Qualifications

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Automated Patch Management: * Utilize ManageEngine Endpoint Central to remediate Microsoft Security Update failures, targeting a 95% fleet-wide compliance baseline.Engineer "set-and-forget" automation policies to sustain a <1% update failure rate over rolling 60-day cycles.Security & Asset Tooling Governance: * Monitor and enforce agent health for Qualys and Snow Software using Endpoint Central’s inventory and software distribution modules.Infrastructure & Policy Alignment: * Partner with Data Center operations to audit and refine Group Policy Objects (GPOs) via Endpoint Central’s configuration modules, ensuring precise Business Unit (BU) code alignment.Proactive Endpoint Health & Remediation: * Deploy custom scripts and System Tools within Endpoint Central to monitor asset health, to prevent patch failures due to storage constraints and address vulnerabilities identified by Qualys.SOC Integration & Incident Response: * Act as the primary technical point of contact for Security Operations Center (SOC) alerts; triage endpoint issues and route actionable tickets to technicians with specific remediation instructions.Windows Lifecycle Management: * Manage the deployment of approved Windows Feature Packs and Service Packs, ensuring the fleet remains within supported lifecycles.Vulnerability Surface Reduction: * Conduct regular "High-Risk Software" audits to identify and uninstall obsolete software across the environment.Formalize IT Risk Assessment Reports (RAR) for critical instrument-only assets where standard software removal is restricted.

To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skill or ability required. 

Technical Proficiency:

Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience managing an enterprise environment using ManageEngine Endpoint Central or Unified Endpoint Management solution.Proven experience in automated patch management, including troubleshooting update failures and maintaining compliance reporting.

Data Analysis & Reporting:

Advanced Reporting: Demonstrated ability to generate, customize, and schedule reports within Endpoint Central to track Patch Compliance.Data Translation: Ability to export raw data into Microsoft Excel to perform trend analysis.

Operating Systems & Lifecycles:

Advanced knowledge of Windows administration, including the specific support lifecycles for Pro and Enterprise editions.Experience deploying Windows Service Packs and Feature Updates via UEM tools.

Infrastructure & Security:

Foundational understanding of Active Directory and Group Policy Objects (GPOs) as they relate to endpoint configuration and Business Unit (BU) alignment.Familiarity with security agent maintenance (e.g., Qualys, Snow, or similar vulnerability/asset management tools).

Communication & Triage:

Ability to interpret SOC (Security Operations Center) alerts and translate technical findings into actionable instructions for field technicians.
