CGI Malaysia is seeking a Java Developer to design, develop and support enterprise-grade applications for a client. You will build well-structured, performant and maintainable Java solutions, collaborate across teams, and contribute to testing, releases and continuous improvement.
Your future duties and responsibilities:1) Software Development & Maintenance
. Design, develop, test, and maintain Java-based software applications.
. Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code; follow secure coding and quality standards.
. Analyze business and user requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
2) Troubleshooting & Continuous Improvement
. Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve application defects and performance issues.
. Participate in code reviews and continuous improvement activities.
. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver projects on time.
3) Delivery Practices
. Contribute to automated testing and build/deployment practices (unit tests, CI/CD pipelines) where applicable.
. Work with databases and integrations to deliver end-to-end features (APIs, data access, logging/monitoring).
. Strong programming skills in Java (mandatory).
. Database experience with MS SQL Server, Oracle SQL, and PostgreSQL.
. Familiarity with version control systems such as Git or SVN.
. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
. 3+ years of relevant software development experience.
Strong Advantage
. Experience with .NET, C#, PHP, and low-code platforms such as Mendix is an advantage.
. Experience with modern Java frameworks and patterns (e.g., Spring/Spring Boot, REST APIs, microservices).
. Exposure to containers and cloud environments, and familiarity with DevOps practices (CI/CD, observability).
Travel & Work Style
. Based primarily in Kuala Lumpur with on-site presence as required by the client and project needs.
. May require occasional after-hours / weekend support for planned changes, maintenance windows, or critical incidents.
. Comfortable working with global stakeholders across time zones and cultures.
