IT Project Manager
The University of Maine System (UMS) is seeking an experienced IT Project Manager for the IT Infrastructure department. This position will oversee medium- to high-risk technology projects across UMS. This role will lead multidisciplinary teams, coordinate internal and external resources, and manage all stages of the project management life cycle—from planning and scope definition through execution, monitoring, and successful delivery. The IT Project Manager reports to the Associate CIO of Infrastructure and plays a key role in ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget, and aligned with institutional goals. Key Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to) + Lead project activities with IT personnel, business specialists, and vendors to accomplish goals and objectives. + Collaborate with stakeholders to define project scope, objectives, roles, estimates, milestones, and risk management plans. + Manage project work plans, scope, communications, risk, issues, quality, and documentation. + Apply project management standards and best practices to ensure project success. + Maintain project schedules, budgets, and resource data for visibility and reporting across UMS. + Facilitate communication with project teams, vendors, and stakeholders to resolve issues and set expectations. Salary: The salary range for this position is $68,000 to $78,000, commensurate with the candidate's training, education, and experience. Qualifications Required + Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) and three years of recent experience supporting project management activities, including working on an information technology implementation. + Demonstrated ability to effectively lead, inspire, and guide others toward goal accomplishment. + Demonstrated ability to develop and sustain effective working relationships and identify problems. + Ability to identify problems, determine the accuracy and relevance of information, and apply sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives and make recommendations. + Ability to apply sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives and make recommendations. + Demonstrated proficiency in the use of project management tools. + Expertise in project management methods, tools, and risk management practices. + Ability to coordinate projects and resources, monitor budgets, and evaluate outcomes. + Strong organizational skills with the ability to set priorities and achieve long- and short-term goals. Preferred + Experience with application implementation in higher education or comparable environments. + Experience managing enterprise-level cloud projects. + PMP certification, or progress toward certification.
