**Job Description** **UW MEDICINE IT SERVICES** has an outstanding job opportunity for an **IT Program Director – Harborview Smart Hospital** . **WORK SCHEDULE** + 100% FTE – 40 hours per week + Day Shift – UW MEDICINE ITS SERVICES CORE HOURS ARE 08:00 – 17:00 (PST), Monday-Friday **DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION** **UW Medicine IT Services (ITS)** is a shared services organization that supports all of UW Medicine. UW Medicine is comprised of Harborview Medical Center (HMC), UW Medical Center-Montlake Campus (UWMC-Montlake), UW Medical Center-Northwest Campus (UWMC-NW), UW Medicine Primary Care (UWMPC), UW Physicians (UWP), UW School of Medicine (SOM), and Airlift Northwest (ALNW). ITS is responsible for the ongoing support and maintenance of the infrastructure and applications which support all these institutions, along with the implementation of new services and applications that are used to support and further the UW Medicine mission. **POSITION HIGHLIGHTS** + **HYBRID** opportunity – **At least 3 days/week onsite** + Values-based work environment + Active departmental Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee + 15 days of vacation your first year – Also, 12 days of sick time, 1 personal holiday, and 11 paid holidays each year + 100% matching, 100% immediately vesting 403(b) **PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES** The IT Program Director – Harborview Smart Hospital will be responsible for leading UW Medicine in the IT planning, structure, development, implementation, and transformation of UW Medicine’s hospital facilities into a state-of-the-art “smart” hospital. Specifically, leveraging advanced technologies to enhance patient care, operational efficiency, and overall hospital management. The primary focus of this role is to lead the IT work for the initiative, with responsibility for planning and budgeting, road maps and execution covering infrastructure and platforms, medical devices, applications, data, integration, and workflow that fit UW Medicine to drive innovation that results in tangible clinical impact and significantly improves patient experience. + **Smart Hospital Initiative Strategy (40%)** + Plan, develop and execute the IT strategy for the smart hospital initiative under the overall bond leadership, aligning with the overall goals and objectives of the organization. + Support the IT visioning and lead the integration of advanced technologies into the hospital's infrastructure that directly enhances efficiency, clinical outcomes and patient satisfaction while considering cost, risk, organizational change management, workflow, support, technical infrastructure, and the broader enterprise. + “Future-proof” the infrastructure so that we have a foundation that will carry Harborview through many years. Ensure the smart hospital's IT infrastructure complies with all relevant regulations and standards, including data privacy and cybersecurity. Implement robust security measures to protect patient data and hospital systems. + **Program Operations Leadership (30%) (added budget and resources to this piece)** + Lead creation of the IT scope, schedule and budget as well as OKRs and KPIs in alignment with the overall program, inclusive of supply chain IT, medical devices, facilities IT and enterprise IT services. + Leading a team of project managers (building over time) to cover all clinical and infrastructure work across all IT areas, with structure for escalations and executive alignment. + Lead development and maintenance of the IT Work Breakdown Structure for IT infrastructure, new buildings, data projects, medical devices, applications, and innovative IT projects, aligning with clinical and operational groups. + Partner with clinical, facility and other stakeholders to create alignment and inclusion, manage expectations, and drive outcomes aligned with UW Medicine, Harborview, and King County’s goals. + Drive organizational change as necessary to support the implementation of the initiative, ensuring alignment with the organization’s goals. + Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of IT projects related to the smart hospital. Create an IT program structure for accountability, clarity, transparency, and results, supporting UW Medicine values. Ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget. + **Stakeholder Engagement & Cross-Functional Collaboration** **(30%)** + Serve as the primary IT liaison for the Smart Hospital Initiative, ensuring the IT solutions are aligned with business needs and strategic goals, both for the overall program and across the system including support. + Collaborate across IT to bring in the right experts at the right time to facilitate planning and solutions that fit the needs but fit into the architecture and environment and consider support and ongoing total cost of ownership. + Work closely with Harborview clinical leaders, King County staff and the design-build team to ensure proper alignment of technology and costs with the Harborview Bond Program. **REQUIREMENTS** + Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, Management, or related field or equivalent combination of education/experience + **10+ years of overall experience to include the below:** + Proven background in leading large, complex healthcare IT projects and initiatives with a focus on clinical and organizational success and adoption, including planning, project framework and budgeting/forecasting + Experience with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and internal policies + Experience leading IT strategic planning efforts within the context of a broader system, including developing IT roadmaps that align with organizational objectives + Experience providing oversight and leadership of infrastructure and IT projects for new construction or remodeling projects + Significant experience leading teams and collaborating with executives, leaders, and stakeholders to create strategic roadmaps and demonstrated value + Skilled at influencing without direct authority and driving consensus on strategic IT matters + Experience with organizational change management methodologies and process improvement, especially in a clinical environment + Solid understanding of current and emerging technologies relevant to healthcare IT + Ability to communicate complex IT concepts and strategies to diverse audiences, including non-technical executives + Experience preparing reports and presentations on IT projects + Experience with various project management and delivery tools **ABOUT UW MEDICINE – WHERE YOUR IMPACT GOES FURTHER** UW Medicine is Washington’s only health system that includes a top-rated medical school and an internationally recognized research center.
