This position is hybrid working 3 days a week in the New Sally Beauty Support Center located in Legacy West in Plano, Texas

The IT PMO Innovation Manager is skilled in hands-on delivery team member responsible for improving how technology projects are executed across the enterprise. This role ensures strong SDLC adoption, enables effective prioritization, and builds delivery capability through training and coaching; helping IT teams, business sponsors, and vendors deliver predictably and with confidence.

About this Role

The IT PMO Innovation Manager plays a critical role in driving disciplined execution, predictable delivery, and continuous improvement across the IT project portfolio while fostering a culture of accountability and innovation.

This role requires a highly experienced technology project leader who has successfully delivered complex, cross-functional IT initiatives and understands what it takes to execute with discipline in real-world environments. The IT PMO Innovation Manager brings practical, hands-on delivery experience to both guide teams and improve the delivery system they operate within.

The role exists to:

Ensure and continuously improve Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) standards and adoptionLead SDLC education, training, and enablement across IT and business delivery participantsImprove communication and alignment between IT delivery teams and business sponsors to enable predictable, repeatable executionSupport portfolio intake, prioritization, and sequencing based on capacity, risk, and business valueEnable disciplined vendor engagement aligned to SBH governance and delivery expectations

This position facilitates IT PMO ceremonies and governance cadence and leverages the PPM ecosystem to provide transparent, data-driven insights into project health, resource demand, run rates, and overall portfolio performance. The role partners closely with IT Leadership, Finance, Architecture, Delivery teams, and strategic vendors to translate ideas into outcomes that measurably improve delivery maturity and enterprise results.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

20% – SDLC Adherence, Improvement & Delivery Standards

Audit IT projects for adherence to SBH SDLC standards across scope, schedule, budget, quality, risk, and phase readinessIdentify systemic SDLC gaps, friction points, and adoption challenges; partner with PMO and IT leadership to evolve and improve SDLC standardsReinforce consistent expectations for project setup, phase transitions, governance approvals, and closureEnsure SDLC standards are practical, scalable, and aligned to real delivery needs—not just compliance

20% – SDLC Training, Enablement & Capability Uplift

Design, deliver, and continuously improve SDLC training and enablement for IT teams, business sponsors, and delivery partnersDevelop and maintain SDLC playbooks, templates, guidance, and learning assetsCoach teams and sponsors on how to apply SDLC standards effectively based on project complexity and riskMeasure training effectiveness and adoption, adjusting content and approach to improve execution outcomes

15% – PMO Reporting, Analytics & Decision Support

Provide portfolio- and project-level insights to support IT leadership decision-makingTranslate delivery data into clear, business-relevant insights that surface risks, trade-offs, and impactsEnsure accuracy, consistency, and completeness of portfolio data used in PMO ceremonies and executive forumsSupport predictable execution by ensuring delivery information is timely, transparent, and actionable

 

15% – PMO Ceremonies, Governance & Portfolio Prioritization

Facilitate IT PMO ceremonies and governance cadence in partnership with PMO leadershipPrepare and present concise summaries, risks, dependencies, and recommendations for leadership decision-makingSupport portfolio intake, prioritization, and sequencing by providing visibility into capacity, risk, dependencies, and delivery trade-offsReinforce alignment between strategic priorities and delivery execution

10% – Portfolio, Resource & Vendor Enablement

Support portfolio-level resource demand planning and workload managementIdentify trends, constraints, and optimization opportunities across the IT portfolioReinforce vendor engagement practices, including SDLC compliance, estimates, reporting, and milestone trackingPartner with Vendor Management and delivery leads to improve transparency and accountability across vendor-supported initiatives

10% – Risk, Issue & Value Realization Enablement

Establish and reinforce risk and issue management frameworks, including escalation criteriaSurface systemic delivery risks and partner with leaders to mitigate impacts proactivelyPartner with business sponsors to define success measures and value realization indicatorsSupport post-implementation reviews to improve future delivery outcomes

10% – Continuous Improvement, Coaching & Innovation

Serve as a trusted delivery advisor and coach, guiding teams using practical, real-world delivery experienceIdentify and implement continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen predictability and delivery maturityHelp translate new ideas into scalable improvements across the PMO and IT delivery ecosystem

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, Computer Science, Project Management, or a related field; or equivalent practical experienceStrong analytical and critical-thinking skills with the ability to synthesize data across budget, timeline, scope, and resource dimensionsDemonstrated experience with SDLC governance processes and project lifecycle managementSelf-motivated professional with the ability to work independently, proactively identify issues, and drive work forward in a fast-paced, matrixed environmentHigh proficiency with PPM and delivery tools such as Quickbase, Clarity, Planview, Microsoft Project, Jira, Confluence, Box, and reporting or automation platforms including Microsoft PowerApps and/or Power BIStrong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities across a complex portfolioExcellent verbal and written communication skills, with comfort presenting to leadership

 

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

This will be a hybrid role required to be onsite at the corporate office on specified days. The work environment generally involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meeting and training rooms, retail stores, and residences or commercial vehicles, e.g., use of safe work practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, observance of fire regulations and traffic signals, etc. The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated.

The work is sedentary; however, occasional travel to company locations may be required. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as papers, files, books, small parts; using a keyboard, driving an automobile, etc. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
