We are looking for a skilled and motivated Operations and System Engineer with a solid IT background to support the satellite elaboration data infrastructure of aerospace-related systems. The role is primarily focused on infrastructure setup and administration and operational support, with a component related to mission support activities (mainly through ticketing and coordination tools). You don’t need prior experience in the space sector, but strong hands-on knowledge in Linux environments and IT operations is essential.
Main ResponsibilitiesAs IT Operations Engineer you will be responsible for:
Administer and monitor Linux-based production systemsDevelop and maintain automation scripts using Bash; support configuration management with AnsibleManage and optimize relational databases, especially PostgreSQL (or similar)Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues, collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholdersWork with ticketing systems (e.g. Jira) to track mission support tasks and incidentsSupport operational readiness and contribute to continuous improvement of infrastructure processes Successful Candidate Strong expertise in Linux system administrationIntermediate knowledge of Bash scripting for automation and maintenanceGood knowledge of PostgreSQL or equivalent RDBMS systemsExperience with configuration management tools, ideally AnsibleFamiliarity with monitoring tools like Grafana About the CompanySerco is a leading provider of public services.
