IT Director Data Management and Analytics

This position is a pioneering leader in structured data intelligence, enterprise data architecture, data engineering strategy, and platform development initiatives. This includes building and scaling the Enterprise Data Warehouse, identifying and integrating authoritative third-party data sources, and creating a centralized data hub for provider and member data. The position will play a key leadership role in establishing a modern, secure, and high-performance data environment that supports advanced analytics, data governance, and strategic business initiatives.
This Director partners with each Application tower (Merch, Supply Chain, Store POS, Enterprise & BackOffice) leadership team to define and prioritize its multi-year technology roadmap. The Director also manages a team of Delivery Managers, Project Managers, Business Analysts, Systems Analysts and Developers who plan and execute the roadmap projects, in partnership with other internal and external resources, on time, on scope and within budget.
**Principal Duties and Responsibilities** _- Primary responsibilities listed in order of importance_
**Enterprise Data Architecture & Engineering:**
+ Design and implement a scalable, cloud-native enterprise data architecture
+ Lead the development of the Enterprise Data Warehouse, enabling seamless data access.
+ Establish robust data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes to support batch and real-time data ingestion and transformation.
+ Identify and integrate authoritative third-party data sources to enrich enterprise data assets and improve decision-making.
+ Define and implement architecture standards, best practices, and development frameworks for data engineering.
+ Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting across pipelines and data environments
+ Ensure high availability, fault tolerance, and recovery strategies for data platforms.
**Data Integration & Interoperability:**
+ Oversee integration of internal and external data sources (including APIs, flat files, and third-party feeds).
+ Ensure data engineering practices support data lineage, provenance, and traceability.
+ Collaborate with external partners and vendors to optimize data acquisition and utilization strategies
**Collaboration & Leadership:**
+ Work closely with senior leadership, business units, and IT teams to ensure that data initiatives align with strategic objectives.
+ Act as a thought leader on data management best practices, advising internal and external stakeholders on data-related opportunities and challenges.
+ Lead and mentor a high-performing data governance, data quality, and data engineering team, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning.
+ Partner with external vendors and technology providers to optimize data tools and infrastructure.
+ Oversee operational performance and reliability of the enterprise data platform in collaboration with Infrastructure and InfoSec teams.
**Supervisory Responsibilities:**
+ Direct supervision of data engineers, solution architects, and platform developers.
+ Collaboration with data governance, analytics, and IT operations teams.
Occasionally serve as primary project lead on strategic initiatives
+ Determine appropriate project structure, work streams and team leads
+ Develop and maintain project plans with detailed tasks, activities, deliverables and timelines
+ Manage and evaluate project resource requirements
+ Continuously assess and re-evaluate project priorities; develop contingency plans
+ Facilitate project schedules and meetings
+ Document project decisions, action items, issues and risks
+ Maintain project document repositories
+ Serve as primary liaison with external vendors
+ Maintain, manage and report on project financial budgets, actuals and forecasts.
+ Prepare project status reports and steering committee presentations
**Minimum Requirements/Qualifications** - _Summary of knowledge, experience and education required._
+ 10+ years of experience in data governance, data strategy, or data management.
+ 5+ years of leadership experience in data and analytics, including a track record of building and scaling high-performing data teams and cloud-based data platforms.
+ Proven track record of implementing scalable data governance frameworks and improving data quality.
+ Experience working with cloud-based data architecture, data lakes, and modern data integration tools
+ Deep expertise in working with large, complex datasets, predictive analytics, machine learning, and advanced analytical tools to extract actionable insights.
+ Experience leading the development of a robust and scalable data platform that can support the organization's growing data needs.
+ Experience with GCP services such as Cloud Storage, Dataflow and Pub/Sub
+ Experience in Oracle, DB2, Machine Learning libraries
+ Experience with confluent message brokers, Talend Data Fabric, Data Virtualization and Data Engineering Architecture
+ Experience with OIC Integration Patterns
+ Experience optimizing Batch and Stream processes
+ Strong proficiency in SQL, Python and Data Modeling tools, PowerBI, Tableau
**Desired Qualifications** - _Desired but not required._
+ Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data science, or a related field required.
+ Master’s degree preferred.
+ Certification or experience with Architecture frameworks TOGAF
+ Certification or experience with Data Management framework CDMP
