Overview of the role: 

Hartford Funds is seeking a motivated Developer to join our IT Team and support our enterprise data warehouse. This position focuses on both data management and development, using low-code ETL tools (such as Talend), SQL, and Python for data ingestion and visualization. The ideal candidate will develop effective solutions, while effectively communicating and collaborating with Business Analysts, Project Managers, and the Business Intelligence Team.

Responsibilities of the role:

Conduct data profiling, source-target mappings, (low-code) ETL and/or Python development, SQL tunings and optimization, testing and implementationProvide business and technical analysis for initiatives focusing on Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence solutionsInfluence and provide input on data warehouse design with experienced-based recommendations for optimal structuring of data to support efficient processingDevelop detailed technical specifications and ETL documentation in collaboration with Data Warehouse Architect and Business Intelligence Developers

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology or another computer-based discipline3 years’ experience developing solutions with a heavy focus on data and data movementAdvanced Python skills requiredDatabases: Strong experience with SQL-based databases (Snowflake is a plus) requiredPlatforms: Microsoft / Linux requiredSQL: Expertise and fluency in SQL language requiredIntegration Patterns: experience with various integration patterns (e.g., Flat Files, Web Services, etc.) requiredKnowledge of fundamental data modeling concepts (e.g., ER Diagrams, normalization, etc.) requiredExperience working with low-code tools (such as ETL platforms)Knowledge of fundamental data modeling concepts (e.g., ER Diagrams, normalization, etc.) is requiredKnowledge of data warehousing techniques (dimensional modeling / star schema, etc.) is requiredExperience writing technical documentation is required.Net / C# preferredSnowflake / Talend preferredCloud platform experience (AWS/Azure) preferredXML/XSLT experience is a plusMust be comfortable/excited working in a fast-paced, high impact environment Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills; able to root cause and debug complex code in and efficient manner/with appropriate urgencyAbility to obtain a good understanding of the business context of a problem to ensure the solution is optimal in solving the business need

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$85,000 - $110,000
