IT Deployment Technician
About the role We’re hiring a PC Deployment Technician to stage, image, and deploy Windows endpoints at scale. You’ll own the end‑to‑end build process—from receiving and asset tagging through imaging, QA, and handoff—while maintaining tight documentation and SLA discipline in the ticketing/asset system. This role is hands‑on, fast‑paced, and perfect for someone who enjoys repeatable workflows, quality checks, and getting devices into users’ hands smoothly. What you’ll do • Receive, unbox, inventory, and asset‑tag new hardware; update asset records and chain‑of‑custody in the ticketing/asset system (ServiceNow or similar) • Image and provision Windows laptops/desktops using one or more tools: SCCM/MECM task sequences, Intune Autopilot, MDT/WDS, Clonezilla, or similar; apply drivers, BIOS/UEFI settings, and security baselines • Configure and test standard builds: domain join/AAD enrollment, BitLocker, VPN client, Wi‑Fi profiles, printers, and core applications (Microsoft 365, collaboration tools, line‑of‑business apps) • Perform quality assurance before release: device health checks, Windows Update/patch level, policy compliance, encryption status, and sign‑in validation with a test account • Execute deployment logistics: schedule pickups/shipments, prep user kits (docks, monitors, peripherals), and provide clear first‑login instructions • Support on‑site cutovers and go‑live days; provide walk‑up support and resolve basic break/fix issues to keep deployment timelines on track • Capture and maintain gold image documentation, build guides, and “known issues”; suggest improvements to task sequences, driver packs, and post‑imaging scripts • Process returns, swaps, and RMAs; sanitize, reimage, and redeploy devices per policy • Assist with on/offboarding device workflows and quarterly/annual asset reconciliations What you bring (must‑have) • 2+ years of hands‑on Windows endpoint deployment experience with required imaging proficiency (SCCM/MECM task sequences, Intune Autopilot, or MDT/WDS) • Strong understanding of Windows 10/11, drivers/firmware, BIOS/UEFI, and post‑image configuration (domain join/AAD, BitLocker, VPN, printers) • Active Directory/Entra ID basics: computer objects, user group membership, password resets, and policy awareness • Ticketing and asset tools experience (ServiceNow, Jira, or similar) with accurate documentation and SLA‑minded updates • Basic networking knowledge (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, Wi‑Fi) to validate connectivity during builds and at handoff • Clear, patient communication and customer service skills; comfortable supporting users during pickup/cutover Nice to have • PowerShell basics to automate post‑imaging steps (app installs, device renames, local policy tweaks) • Experience with driver management, BIOS configuration utilities (Dell/HP/Lenovo), and vendor imaging best practices • Exposure to application packaging and software distribution (SCCM/MECM, Intune Win32 apps) • Familiarity with encryption/key recovery, certificate deployment, and conditional access concepts • macOS or Jamf exposure for mixed environments Key success metrics • First‑time‑right build rate and reduced post‑deployment rework • On‑time device deliveries versus deployment schedule • SLA attainment for ticket updates and asset accuracy • User satisfaction (CSAT) during pickup/cutover windows Work environment and logistics • Onsite/hybrid as required for staging and handoffs • Ability to lift/move 25–40 lbs and stand for periods during staging/deployments • Occasional after‑hours or weekend cutovers during large waves Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Birmingham, AL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
