Due to the secure nature of the programme, you will need to hold UK Security Clearance or be eligible to go through this clearance. This position requires working onsite in Chippenham 5 days a week.
In this role, you will take ownership of capacity management across on-premise and hybrid VMware environments, ensuring infrastructure capability aligns with current and future business demand. You will apply ITIL capacity management practices to proactively plan, monitor, and optimise compute, storage, and network resources, enabling reliable service delivery and value-driven investment decisions.
You will work closely with technical and service teams to identify risks early, maintain service performance, and support long-term infrastructure strategy. With strong backing from CGI’s expert community, you will be encouraged to innovate, improve processes, and continuously enhance how capacity is managed across secure environments.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead & Own ITIL-aligned Business, Service, and Component Capacity Management
- Develop & Maintain capacity plans, forecasts, and demand models
- Monitor & Analyse utilisation, trends, and performance across VMware platforms
- Identify & Mitigate capacity risks and performance constraints proactively
- Produce & Present dashboards, reports, and insights for stakeholders
- Support & Advise on hardware refresh, expansion, and decommissioning decisions
You will bring strong experience in capacity management within complex, secure IT environments, alongside a solid understanding of ITIL practices and service lifecycle concepts. You will be analytical, detail-focused, and confident engaging with stakeholders to translate data into clear, actionable insight.
Essential qualifications include:
- Proven experience working in Defence or similarly secure environments
- Strong experience managing infrastructure capacity at scale
- Hands-on experience with capacity and monitoring tools (e.g. vRealize Operations or similar)
- Strong understanding of ITIL 4 practices
- Experience working with Change, Incident, Problem, and Service Design processes
- Foundational knowledge of VMware-based infrastructure; VCF/VxRail desirable
