REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS/SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Reports to the Lead Technologist, Interventional Radiology, Manager, VP. No direct reports.
POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direction of a physician, the technologist assists in various aspects of interventional invasive surgical procedures. The technologist also prepares the angiographic suite for intricate procedures in a sterile environment. He/she is responsible for patient preparation, scrubbing and circulating during procedure. Actively participates in the creation of an environment that fosters patient, family, physician, and employee satisfaction. Ensures decisions made are based upon Family Centered Care philosophy.
ACCOUNTABILITIES

According to the physician’s orders, prepares contrast and IV solutions required for interventional procedures. Calculates fluids and contrast materials, including intraarterial and intravenous injections. Assembles the interventional materials and supplies needed for each patient (i.e., balloons, specialty catheters, filters, stents, embolic material, etc.). Demonstrates knowledge of patient supplies specific to neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
Sets up the angiographic suite for each interventional procedure (i.e., pulse oximeter, EKG, BP monitor, pressure monitor, sterile tray setup, interventional equipment, etc.).
Maintains competency in use of equipment and demonstrates knowledge of patient position and injections specific to neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. Demonstrates the ability to scrub and circulate all interventional procedures.
Maintains availability to be called in after regular hours for all vascular interventional procedures if required based up facility.
Follows hospital radiation safety requirements, universal precautions, sterile techniques, time outs, and fire safety and disaster codes. Demonstrates awareness of safety standards for self and assigned area.
Demonstrates high levels of care, courtesy, and cooperation. Educates patients about their procedure and ensures patients and families’ comfort and needs are appropriately addressed in a dignified, confidential manner. Follows organization’s mission and values of customer service.
Demonstrates competency in using hospital EMR/ PACS for the purpose of correctly ordering exams, supplies, image storage, and other data input.
Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Completed formal radiologic technology training at an AMA approved school. Skills: Must be able to cope with the stressful situations and handle deadlines in a demanding, fast paced medical environment. Must be able to understand directions, communicate and respond to inquiries; requires effective interpersonal skills. Must be competent in the use of facility communication systems and equipment (e.g., phones, fax machines, EMR/PACS.). Must be able to input and retrieve information from radiological or other medical equipment and computerized systems.

Physical Demands: Imaging technologists must be able to tolerate possible exposure to radiation and electrical hazards, bloodborne pathogens or bodily fluids; must be able to tolerate wearing heavy protective garments for extended periods of time. Must be able to move about the hospital and between workstations, and to handle stooping, standing, walking, and lifting as required by the position.
