IPR Contracts Analyst, Staff

General Summary:

Administers, analyzes, and manages licensing agreements to provide on-going contract administration support across IP licensing areas. Manages contract management systems and conducts research to prepare reports and/or correspondence related to the maintenance of license agreements and processes. Applies and maintains current understanding of Qualcomm policies, positions, and operations as well as legal guidelines related to IP licensing and contracts administration.

Minimum Qualifications:

•    Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Criminal Justice, Contract Management, or related field and 4+ years of contract experience or related work experience.
OR
Associate's degree, Paralegal Certificate, IP Certificate, or equivalent and 6+ years of contract experience or related work experience.
OR
High School diploma or equivalent and 8+ years of contract experience or related work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

•    Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in Business Management, Criminal Justice, Contract Management, or related field.

•    Paralegal Certificate or IP Certificate.

•    6+ years of contract experience.

•    6+ years of relevant IP experience.

•    1+ year of work experience in a role requiring interaction with senior leadership (e.g., Director level and above).

•    1+ year of experience working in a large matrixed organization.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

•    Leads others to process, finalize, facilitate approval for, and distribute various types of complex licensing agreements between finance, legal, and licensing manager. 
•    Prepares summary of critical licensing agreements based on highly advanced understanding of contracts administration procedures, structure, and guidelines; guides team to do the same.
•    Manages the lifecycle of multiple complex licensing agreements (e.g., renewals, termination, amendments, address changes) to ensure agreements are fully executed according to terms; guides team to do the same.
•    Drives and oversees partnerships with leaders across legal teams and licensing managers to prepare letters, notices, reports, and other correspondence to ensure compliance with the most complex or critical license agreements.
•    Guides team to input contract data and audit highly complex license agreements in various contract management systems to ensure data is accurate, high-quality, and up-to-date.
•    Leads research, analysis, and reporting of licensing agreement information to develop insights and support the business based on specialized knowledge of IP Licensing and legal principles; helps junior team members do the same.
•    Leverages an in-depth understanding of terms and conditions related to contracts with Qualcomm counterparts; leads others to resolve issues.
•    Analyzes and provides high-quality responses to complex requests for information in a timely manner, ensuring information is accurate and sufficient.
•    Develops new and innovative ways to accomplish work and improve existing methods to increase efficiencies across teams.
•    Manages team project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables; guides others do the same.
•    Makes and implements sound, ethical, and timely decisions across situations and helps others make decisions.

Level of Responsibility: 
•    Works independently with little supervision.
•    Provides supervision to direct reports.
•    Decisions are more significant in their impact, influencing overall program or project success, finances, and/or the ability to meet objectives. Errors are not readily apparent due to the complexity of work process/product or time between decisions and results. Errors typically result in significant expenditure of time, resources, and funds to correct.
•    Requires verbal and written communication skills to convey complex and/or detailed information to multiple individuals/audiences with differing knowledge levels. Role may require strong negotiation and influence, communication to large groups or high-level constituents.
•    Works within the prescribed budgetary objectives of the department. Erroneous decisions, failure to achieve results may cause delays in schedules and result in the re-allocation of some resources.
•    Has a moderate amount of influence over key organizational decisions (e.g., is consulted by senior leadership to make key decisions).
•    Most tasks do not have defined steps; simultaneous use of multiple mental abilities is generally required to determine the best approach; mistakes may result in significant rework.
•    Exceptional creativity is needed to innovate new ideas and develop innovative products/ processes without established objectives or known parameters.
•    Works on abstract problems in variable situations that typically require complex analysis, interpretation, or evaluation of intangible factors. Directs the resolution of complex problems that have impact beyond own area. Participates in corporate development of methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for projects, programs, and people.
•    Develops, redesigns organizational strategies and provides overall direction for various functional areas and/or entire organization. Has influence over the formulation and achievement of long-term business plans and objectives.

Pay range and Other Compensation & Benefits:

$104,000.00 - $156,000.00

The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted.
