Purpose of Job:
To help develop and deliver engaging, professional, and client-focused investor education through live webinars, interactive sessions, and video content, helping Scotia iTRADE clients build investing knowledge and confidence.
The Education Instructor will facilitate webinars, moderate events, and support video and social media education content. In addition to presenting, this role actively contributes to the development of new education classes, topics, presentations, and supporting resources. The Instructor will work collaboratively across teams to shape Scotia iTRADE’s education offerings – ensuring content remains relevant, accessible, and aligned with industry trends and client needs.
Through impactful delivery and engaging content, this role helps elevate the overall client experience, drive engagement, and support Scotia iTRADE’s strategic initiatives.
Major Accountabilities:
Webinar and Event Facilitation:
Deliver live webinars and on-demand education sessions on foundational and intermediate investment topics. Moderate interactive virtual events, Q&A, and panel discussions with internal and external subject matter experts. Facilitate internal sessions (e.g., platform demos, product updates, client education briefings). Participate in video shoots and recorded content creation (YouTube, platform tutorials, social explainers). Support audience interaction tools (polls, surveys, chat moderation) to drive engagement and learning.Content Support and Development:
Collaborate with the education team to refine and adapt presentations, scripts, and webinar materials for effective delivery. Support content creation for video, webinar, and social media channels (YouTube, Instagram), including post copy, editing short-form video, and repurposing content for platform-specific formats. Test and provide feedback on education assets (e.g., platform demos, script development). Share participant feedback and audience insights to inform the continuous improvement of education offerings.Client Education Analytics and Metrics:
Track webinar attendance, feedback, and engagement to measure effectiveness and identify opportunities to improve delivery and format. Use analytics to measure client engagement from our digital public site/platforms and live webinars to create new content for clients to boost engagement.Remain Up to Date on Industry Trends, Best Practices in Investor Education:
Stay current with industry trends, regulatory updates, and internal platform changes to ensure accurate and up-to-date content delivery. Research trends, proactively seek out industry insights, conduct competitive analysis related to investor education in the Canadian and North American online investing industry and compare iTRADE against competitors. Apply adult learning principles and effective facilitation techniques to drive knowledge retention and actionable learning outcomes. Adhere to compliance standards and deliver content in a manner consistent with Scotia iTRADE’s education strategy and brand tone.Contribute to the Effective Functioning of Scotia iTRADE by:
Work closely with the Manager, Client Education and effectively collaborate with internal iTRADE teams and Scotiabank to deliver a cohesive, consistent, and a “best in class” education experience for clients. Facilitating a culture of open and honest communication by actively participating and contributing to one-on-ones and team meetings, encouraging the generation of new ideas and approaches and actively sharing knowledge and experience to enhance the development of all team members. Building effective working relationships across the team and with various business line and corporate function contacts. Developing and executing a meaningful Employee Development Plan.
Education / Work Experience / Designations:
Minimum 2 years of experience in a facilitation, education, training role or related position (live and/or virtual). Strong verbal and written communication skills; must be comfortable presenting to large groups and senior business leaders. Experience delivering financial, investing, or technical content is strongly preferred. Strong ability to translate complex topics into engaging, relatable learning experiences. Excellent virtual facilitation skills (GoTo Webinar, ON24, Zoom, MS Teams, WebEx or similar). Familiarity with self-directed investing platforms, online brokerage products, and services is an asset. Knowledge of foundational investing topics (ETFs, stocks, fixed income, account types, trading basics). Familiarity with adult learning principles and instructional design best practices. French language fluency is an asset.
