Job Description
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Investment Specialist to champion the Old Mutual Unit Trust (OMUT) fund range. In this pivotal role, you will act as the key liaison between our distinguished internal investment teams including the Old Mutual Investment Group (OMIG) and Futuregrowth along with our strategic distribution partners.Your primary objective will be to expertly position OMUT funds with key clients such as Multi-Managers, Discretionary Fund Managers (DFMs), and Independent Financial Advisers (IFAs). This position demands a sophisticated understanding of investment methodologies, portfolio construction, and distribution strategy, underpinned by exceptional stakeholder management skills. You will be instrumental in driving the growth and strategic direction of our unit trust offering.
Your responsibilities will be broad and strategic, encompassing the following core areas:
Investment Strategy & Product/Solution Development
Maintain an expert understanding of current portfolio positioning and the macroeconomic drivers behind fund performance.Articulate fund performance, strategy, and positioning compellingly to internal teams and external clients.Spearhead the development and execution of a significant part of the OMUT distribution strategy.Collaborate with product, operations, and finance teams to contribute to the creation of new solutions and the enhancement of existing products.Provide strategic input into the direction of the OMUT fund range, informed by detailed industry and competitor analysis.Distribution & Client Engagement
Partner with Old Mutual Wealth distribution teams to achieve the key objectives for the OMUT Fund Range.Develop and execute a comprehensive go-to-market strategy for our OMUT funds.Cultivate and manage relationships with key clients, including leading IFA practices, DFMs, and Old Mutual Personal Financial Advice (PFA).Effectively engage with Chief Investment Officers (CIOs), investment committees, and heads of channels to understand market needs and drive product adoption.Collaborate with marketing teams to ensure consistent and impactful positioning of our preferred fund range.Represent Old Mutual Wealth at an expert level through compelling presentations, media engagements, and industry events.Achieve targets for asset growth and ensure the retention of key clients and assets.Strategic & Personal Development
Act as a subject matter expert on the retail investment industry, including policy, regulation, and operational management.Identify and develop strategic solutions to long-term business challenges and opportunities.Champion a culture of innovation, supporting the development of new initiatives from concept to market delivery.Maintain an in-depth understanding of emerging industry themes and best practices through continuous professional development.Qualifications and Experience required:
A relevant postgraduate qualification is highly advantageous.A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role within the asset management or wealth investment industry.Demonstrable expertise in investments and portfolio management principles.Proven experience in business development, sales, or a client-facing investment role.Deep knowledge of the financial services value chain, including financial advice, LISPs, DFMs, and Multi-Managers Stakeholder and change management experienceDevelop in conjunction with Old Mutual Wealth distribution a go-to market strategy for our OMUT range of funds and successfully execute on this.Demonstrated commercial acumen with a proven ability to develop and execute go-to-market strategies.Exceptional presentation and communication skills, with the confidence to engage audiences of all sizes, from one-on-one meetings to large conferences.Excellent interpersonal skills, with a natural ability to build rapport and manage complex stakeholder relationships.A demonstrable passion for investments, product development, and financial markets.Exceptional organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple complex projects concurrently.Proven experience in managing change and influencing outcomes across various business functions.Skills
