Inventory Manager
If you are a results-orientated problem solver with a track record of successful leadership, consider joining the U-Haul team as our newest Inventory Manager. As the Inventory Manager, you will lead a team responsible for maintaining inventory accuracy of all materials received, consumed, and shipped during the manufacturing process. The Inventory Manager will be responsible for the material handlers assigned to various departments and will give directions to the team to provide material handling support for receiving, production and shipping.
Primary Responsibilities:
Sets clear goals, delegate tasks, and ensures the inventory team is aligned with project objectives.
Maintains records of materials in inventory and on order.
Manages material handler activities for receiving, moving, and stocking of inventory items during the manufacturing process.
Leads shift kitting teams to continuously feed the production lines.
Responds to production demand and initiates action to replenish stocks by picking/staging material allocated to production work orders.
Supports shipping with material handlers to load outbound deliveries.
Reconciles discrepancies in inventories and notifies material handlers and production supervisor of irregularities.
Review and reconcile negative inventory report daily.
Review and reconcile open transfer order report daily.
Review and reconcile open transfer request report daily.
Reconcile inventory discrepancies when they are reported.
Provides training to the material handlers for use of all WM transaction codes used in SAP.
Maintains cycle count accuracy levels within internal and external goals while keeping the team on pace to annual count schedules
Manages storage bins (open/blocked) to maximize warehouse rack space.
Defines storage bins as required by production needs as model changes year to year.
Works to coordinate disposition of aging material.
Responsible for tracking inventory of various materials; finding root cause for inventory discrepancies and accurately recording inventory counts in the system.
Manages an hourly workforce of 25 team members while assessing employee performance, providing positive/constructive feedback, facilitating conflict resolution, and addressing repeat issues with corrective actions
Ensures warehouse activities meet or exceed regulatory requirements and support manufacturing operations.
Minimum Requirements:
Proven work experience as an inventory support team member or similar role.
Experience with SAP or other ERP systems required.
Excellent math and analytical skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work extended hours.
Forklift experience is beneficial.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Physical Demands:
The work requires physical exertion such as extended periods indoors and outdoors of remaining stationery, traversing spaces, repositioning to reach and use tools, and moving at least 50 lbs. assisted or unassisted.
