At the core of the Inventory Control Planner's responsibilities is driving inventory optimization and accuracy across the organization as well as managing the performance, cost, and capacity of our third-party logistics (3PL) providers. The Inventory Control Planner is focused on executing effective cycle count programs, investigating inventory discrepancies, and fine-tuning inventory levels to meet customer demand. This includes managing 3PL provider relationships, negotiating SLAs, and driving continuous operational performance improvements to ensure seamless fulfillment. The planner leverages advanced data analytics to uncover optimization opportunities and collaborates with cross-functional teams to implement solutions. In addition to these operational responsibilities, the Inventory Control Planner strives to streamline inventory management processes and introduce system automation where possible. By delivering inventory optimization, accuracy, and strong 3PL oversight, the Inventory Control Planner contributes directly to enhancing the overall customer experience.
Key job responsibilities
- Manage and control performance, cost and capacity of External Fulfillment Logistics provider (3PL)
- Manage 3PL provider relationships, negotiate SLAs, and drive continuous operational performance improvements
- Ensure inventory accuracy across assigned program by implementing inventory controls and replenishment processes
- Develop and execute effective cycle count programs to maintain inventory accuracy
- Investigate inventory discrepancies, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions
- Analyze inventory data, identify optimization opportunities, and recommend solutions to improve turns, reduce waste, and enhance the customer experience
- Collaborate with procurement, operations, and finance teams to align on inventory goals and drive initiatives to achieve them
- Design and deploy streamlined inventory management workflows, leveraging system automation where possible
- Create and maintain comprehensive standard operating procedures for inventory-related activities
- Support the implementation of inventory management system upgrades and enhancements
- Contribute to cross-functional projects related to engineering changes, master data management, and supply chain improvements
- Provide analytical reports and actionable insights to senior leadership
