Inventory Control Manager
Position Summary

The Inventory Control Manager is responsible for overseeing all store‑level and division‑level inventory accuracy processes, including ordering integrity, backroom organization, cycle counts, shrink prevention, and audit readiness. This role ensures operational accuracy across receiving, backstock, adjustments, transfers, and department item maintenance. The Inventory Control Manager partners closely with Store Directors, Department Managers, and Loss Prevention to maintain strong inventory accuracy and reduce shrink.

Key Responsibilities Inventory Accuracy & Process Management Oversee execution of all inventory control processes, including receiving, counts, adjustments, transfers, and returns. Monitor inventory variances and partner with department leadership to correct discrepancies. Ensure accurate item maintenance, tagging, and scanning compliance. Maintain accurate on‑hand quantities across all departments through routine audits and cycle counts. Backroom & Stock Organization Ensure proper backroom and storage standards, including product rotation, labeling, and organization. Support store teams in maintaining clean, efficient, and compliant storage areas. Identify stock flow issues and implement corrective actions to prevent overstocks, misplaced inventory, or product loss. Shrink Control & Loss Prevention Monitor department shrink indicators and partner with leaders to implement corrective actions. Ensure accurate handling of damages, out‑of‑code product, returns, disposals, and salvage processes. Support LP teams by identifying inventory trends, suspicious patterns, or process gaps. Audits, Compliance & Reporting Prepare stores for scheduled and unscheduled inventory audits. Conduct internal audits to verify accuracy of counts, pricing, and system data. Maintain required documentation, adjustment logs, and inventory records. Provide regular reporting on inventory performance, trends, and risk areas. Training & Team Support Train department managers and associates on inventory systems, tools, and best practices. Provide coaching on accurate receiving, proper tagging, ordering discipline, and rotation standards. Assist Store Directors with enforcing consistent inventory practices across departments. Operational Support Partner with store teams to identify root causes of inventory issues and implement sustainable process improvements. Work with division support teams on item discrepancies, cost corrections, and system‑related problems. Assist with major events including physical inventories, seasonal transitions, and resets. Qualifications Previous retail, grocery, or inventory control experience required. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret system data, reports, and trends. Knowledge of inventory systems, receiving processes, and backroom operations. Excellent communication and problem‑solving abilities. Ability to train and influence teams across multiple departments. Proficiency with store systems, handheld scanners, and Microsoft applications. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, lift, and bend for extended periods. Able to safely lift and move product and equipment as required. Comfortable working in stockrooms, coolers, freezers, and warehouse‑type environments.
