UPMC Presbyterian is seeking a full-time Invasive Cardiac Technologist to join our highly skilled Heart Catheterization team.

What You’ll Do:
Our Invasive Cardiac Technologists play a critical role in performing and assisting with advanced cardiovascular procedures, including:

Cardiac catheterization

Cardiac angioplasty and stenting

Various vascular interventions

Pericardiocentesis

Right heart catheterizations

We’re looking for confident, skilled radiologic technologists with strong critical thinking skills, technical expertise, and a passion for delivering excellent patient care in high-stakes situations.

Responsibilities:

Ensures all images within his/her area of responsibility are properly coded and tracked through the PACS, and are properly networked to appropriate electronic record for archival and interpretation, and all charges are adequately entered for the procedures performed. Maintains continuing education and competency requirements for position Reviews patient history and assesses physician orders, applying specific departmental protocols for optimal results in the acquisition of data. Documents patient history in electronic record as required Maintains point of care testing standards, including daily quality control, for devices used for procedures Demonstrates the ability to communicate instructions to patients in a clear and concise manner and explain procedures to help allay the patient’s fears and solicit their cooperation Demonstrate proper positioning and appropriate radiographic techniques for all diagnostic and interventional procedures. Exhibits a clear understanding of correct patient preparation, equipment operations and patient monitoring systems Demonstrates competency in functioning in the first assist position Fosters an environment that supports aseptic technique during procedures and patient safety with the incorporation of a time-out process Administers contrast under the direction of the procedure physician Provides stand by call coverage, as scheduled, in accordance with system-wide stand by call procedure/policy Practices with attentiveness to radiation safety for the patient as well as others in the procedure room including appropriate use of lead shielding and monitoring devices. Assures documentation of patient radiation exposure in electronic record.
