As an Interventional Vascular Technologist, you will provide technical assistance in performing diagnostic and interventional procedures. Some of your responsibilities will include acquiring images, processing images and providing emergency on call assistance.

 

A PRN caregiver in this position works 7:30am—6:00pm or 12:00pm—10:30pm. Rotates Saturday or Sunday weekend shift. 

 

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

Utilize sterile or aseptic techniques to scrub in and perform vascular, interventional and surgical procedures per protocol. 

Educate patients regarding procedures, equipment and exams to ensure understanding and cooperation. 

Ensure patients safety and comfort during and after exams. 

Demonstrate understanding of primary purpose of drugs used in IR, indications, contraindications, contrast drug interactions and major effects. 

Set-up or operate injector to administer contrast agents for procedures and manually inject contrast agent if no pressure injector is utilized. 

Operate ancillary equipment adherent to specific procedures. 

Check and prepare patients prior to Vascular-Interventional study. 

Screen patients for ability to undergo procedure by understanding baseline lab requirements. 

Position patients to obtain radiographic exposure. 

Acquire, archive, transmit and print images via PACS. 

Complete after-hours transmission of images and appropriate paperwork. 

Report malfunctions to help desk and PACS Administrator. 

Process billing via RIS. 

Record and maintain procedural data to include injection data, elapsed fluoroscopic time and procedural information. 

Monitor equipment and systems, clean equipment and effect timely repair. 

Learn new technical information and skills through attendance of periodic in-service programs and participation in professional affiliation sessions. 

 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology 

Registered Technologist credentialed by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists R.T.(R) (ARRT) and in good standing 

Current state licensure as a Radiology Technologist 

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) OR the American Red Cross   

Knowledge of radiologic physics and computerized vascular equipment to safely inject and image human vascular anatomy   

Knowledge of vascular anatomy and pathology sufficient to apply to interventional and diagnostic exams   

Knowledge of sterile technique with the ability to create and maintain a sterile environment 

 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

One year of experience as a Radiologic Technologist 

Certification in Cardiovascular-Interventional Radiography R.T.(R)(CV)(ARRT) or Vascular-Interventional Radiology R.T.(R)(VI)(ARRT) 


Physical Requirements:

Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.

Must be able to lift or assist with lifting patients of varying weight and manipulate equipment daily.

Personal Protective Equipment:

Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
