About this Job
The Office of State Parks (OSP) serves the citizens of Louisiana and visitors by preserving and interpreting natural areas of unique or exceptional scenic value, planning, developing and operating sites that provide outdoor recreation opportunities in natural surroundings, preserving and interpreting historical and scientific sites of statewide importance and administering intergovernmental programs related to outdoor recreation and trails.
The purpose of this position is to provide supervision and site interpretation to site visitors through guided tours, audio visual presentations, living history demonstrations, and other methods. It is also the responsibility of this position to ensure consistency in programming and the programs offered are of high quality.

Minimum Qualifications
Three years of experience in archaeological or anthropological work; or in planning or presenting interpretive or educational programs relating to cultural or physical history; OR
Three years of experience in conservation work or natural resource management; or in planning or presenting interpretive or educational programs relating to the natural environment; OR
A bachelor's degree.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
• Oversees the implementation and effectiveness of site level educational programs and interpretive effectiveness with the conduct of program audits and evaluations.
• Works to ensure OSP collaborative programming meets grade-level expectations.
• Plans, constructs, and displays interpretive exhibits for visitor centers as well as site promotional spaces.
• Keeps trails clear of debris and litter.
• Conceptualizes, designs, coordinates, and develops new educational programs, audio visuals, and trails for visitor education and enjoyment.
• Initiates, conducts, and reviews original research in support of proposed and/or existing programs, exhibits, and to develop interpretive them.es.
• Researches current information on topics and techniques for use in lectures and programs.
• Works with site manager and Interpretive Services to review programs and exhibits for historical accuracy, interpretive value, and agency direction.
• Writes, edits, and produces a variety of promotional materials such as brochures, flyers, and event programs.
• Delivers speeches and programs throughout the community to professional organizations, school representatives, public and private clubs, businesses, and other groups to enhance the interest in the site and its activities.
• Provides assistance to guests by answering questions about other park amenities.
• Operates the fee station at the park entrance in order to register overnight guests, collect day use fees, collect payments for rentals, sell gift shop items, etc.
Position-Specific Details:
Location: Rosedown Plantation State Historic Site, in St. Francisville, LA
Work Schedule: Rosedown State Historic Site is open daily year-round (closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day). Position will work a rotating schedule of 40 hours/week, that can include other holidays and/or weekends as needed, to ensure coverage at the site.

Travel: Position may require driving around the park as part of the daily shift. A state vehicle is available for employee use while on duty.
