Job Summary: The duties and responsibilities of the interpreter, Spanish-English, is much more about facilitating cross-cultural conversation. Aside from being fluent in understanding and speaking both English and Spanish languages, this professional can also relay concepts between these languages. Subject expertise has a very important role at the same time.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Act as a professional interpreter between a wide range of people with diverse voices, personalities, speaking accents and tempos. Follow applicable ethics and standards that protect the confidentiality of information Identify, resolve conflicts related to the meanings of words, concepts, practices, or behaviors Proofread, edit, and revise translated materials Check translations of technical terms as well as terminology to make sure that they are accurate, remain consistent throughout translation revisions Facilitate effective communication between two parties that do not speak a similar language by converting one spoken or written language to another. Provide all parties with clear and exact verbal and written translations and interpretations Perform routine activity logs and documentation Interpret statements, questions, answers, explanation, arguments, and other verbal communication Interpret exactly with no additions nor omissions Facilitate effective communication between machine operators and supervisors Explain the essential functions of the job. Give accurate interpretation of written & verbal communication Provide sight translations of documents and written materials Basic understanding of equipment to assist machine operators with trainingThese responsibilities and duties are not intended to be all-inclusive. Education/Experience:
Fluent in English and Spanish; speaking and writing Experienced interpreting in a manufacturing setting strongly recommended, but not required Must be flexible with schedule, available for all shifts
Work Environment:
Regular work near moving mechanical parts. Exposure to wet and/or humid conditions and temperature variations Noise level is moderate to high. Bump caps, ear protection, eye protection, and safety shoes are required.
