Internship Summer 2026 - Surveying

Job Description:

Overview:

The Survey Technician Intern provides technical and drafting support to the Survey Department, working closely with Registered Professional Land Surveyors (R.P.L.S.) to prepare boundary surveys, subdivision plats, construction calculations, topographic maps, and route surveys. This role offers practical, hands-on experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, field data interpretation, and survey project workflows.

Responsibilities:

∙ Provide technical drafting support for survey projects using AutoCAD Civil 3D.

∙ Prepare detailed survey drawings and exhibits from sketches, field notes, plans, and specifications based on verbal and written instructions.

∙ Review work for accuracy and completeness prior to submission for R.P.L.S. review.

∙ Revise existing drawings, trace, and copy drawings, and complete basic survey-related calculations under direction.

∙ Conduct occasional field work to collect and verify survey data as needed.

Qualifications:

∙ Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an accredited program in Surveying, Geospatial Sciences, Civil Engineering, Computer-Aided Drafting & Design, or a closely related field.

∙ Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D preferred.

∙ Strong written and verbal communication skills.

∙ Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

∙ Excellent time management and organizational skills.

∙ Adaptable to shifting priorities and deadlines.

∙ Reliable and dependable, with strong attention to detail.
