Our team works at the intersection of sensors, AI, and patient‑monitoring technologies to develop next‑generation solutions for individuals with heart conditions. This internship focuses on the software and AI side of research, specifically on developing observable, safe, and reliable conversational interfaces powered by large language models (LLMs). You will work within a multidisciplinary research team driving innovations for wearable cardiac sensors and patient‑facing interactions, contributing directly to technology that supports real‑world healthcare applications. **Your role:** + Study existing scientific and technical literature on conversational systems for patient interaction + Define observability criteria for patient‑facing LLM‑based systems + Develop monitoring and anomaly‑detection mechanisms to ensure model and data integrity + Benchmark and optimize hyperparameters to improve LLM performance while reducing computational cost under operational constraints + Contribute to building robust monitoring pipelines for deployed AI systems + Deliver a technical note summarizing findings, recommendations, and validated approaches + Collaborate closely with an R&D team working on sensors, AI, and advanced innovations for cardiac healthcare **You're the right fit if:** + You are enrolled in an MSc program in **Artificial Intelligence** + You are looking for a **thesis** **‑** **possible** internship + You have practical experience in AI/ML work (evidence through coursework, projects, or prior roles) + You are structured, organized, analytical, and attentive to detail + You are fluent in English + You are available to work **onsite in Eindhoven** + You are motivated to work in an R&D environment focused on **sensors, AI, and cardiac healthcare technologies** **How we work together** We believe that we are better together than apart. For our office-based teams, this means working in-person at least 3 days per week. Onsite roles require full-time presence in the company’s facilities. Field roles are most effectively done outside of the company’s main facilities, generally at the customers’ or suppliers’ locations. Monthly full-time allowance between €500 - €700 gross, depending on educational level and if you would need to relocate to The Netherlands. If you will perform a part-time internship you will receive the allowance pro-rata. Housing compensation, in case of relocating to the vicinity of the office, €300,- net if location is in the vicinity of Amsterdam, €255,- net for all other Philips locations. You need to provide a rental contract of the land lord, and your normal home-work travel distance need to be more than 50 km or travel time (one way trip) need to be more than 1.5 hours. Travel compensation, if you are not eligible for a free public transport card; you will receive max. €192,- net.
