Intern-Undergraduate SWWI -Healthcare Administration - Temporary

Responsibilities

The primary purpose of the Undergraduate Internship is to provide an intern with relevant field experiences in the study of healthcare or business administration. One or more mentors will be assigned to the intern to provide instruction, guidance, and to assess performance. The intern is responsible for observing the functions and processes of the assigned work unit. In addition, the intern may be given selected work assignments to reinforce the learning experience, to assess the performance levels and to provide benefit to the work unit. The intern will be responsible for completing all internship-related assignments and reports for both Mayo and the participating educational facility. 

Each intern will fill this position for ten to twelve weeks, dependent on availability and work unit needs. Preceptors provide undergraduate students with a broad range of learning opportunities depending on the priorities of the department, as well as the student’s professional interests. Every intern will learn about Mayo Clinic’s integrated system and receive mentorship from administrative leaders, as well as current and former Administrative Fellows and Interns.

Sample activities include:

Leading or supporting process improvement initiativesDeveloping process flow maps of current processes and making recommendations around improving processesManaging and analyzing data to inform department strategyAbility to attend select high-level management meetingsObserving clinical care and speaking with caregivers or patientsAttending grand rounds, leadership lecture series or other educational lecturesProvide presentation and written deliverables to leaders upon completion of internship

Our internship program also provides time for professional development and learning through lunch and learns, site visits, and presentations.

The internship will start May 26th and end August 14th 2026.



Qualifications

Qualified applicants will be entering their undergraduate junior or senior year in fall of 2026.  Requirement to be within the College of Business. The incumbent must be enrolled in a degree program from a college or university. 

Must have authorization to work and remain in the United States, without necessity for Mayo Clinic sponsorship now, or in the future (for example, be a U.S. citizen, national, or permanent resident, refugee or asylee).

 This vacancy is not eligible for sponsorship/ we will not sponsor or transfer visas for this position. Also, Mayo Clinic DOES NOT participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program.
