Intern Pharmacist PRN Rotating Position Summary

The individual in this position, under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, will assist the pharmacist in the efficient and accurate preparation, dispensing and delivery of pharmaceuticals and supplies. This individual will be a pharmacy student and the specific duties and responsibilities of the intern’s involvement is directly related to their academic standing or year of professional education.

Responsibilities:

Reviews and interprets orders for inpatients and outpatients to ensure the appropriateness of dosage and to determine the significance of potential drug-drug interaction. Prepares and dispenses inpatient medications. Conducts medication restocks in automated dispensing cabinets and prepares sterile compounds using aseptic technique. Participate in educational programs and projects designed to improve the clinical and operational components of the department.

Education:

Required: Actively enrolled in an accredited college/ school of Pharmacy and demonstrating progress to completing the program.

Experience:

Preferred: Prior experience

Certifications:

Required: Registered Pharmacy Technician license or Pharmacy Intern license (both based on state requirements). AHA BLS, ACLS, PALS required if direct patient care responsibilities.

Physical Demands:

Lift/position up to 50 lbs. Push/pull up to 50 lbs. of force. Frequent standing and walking. Frequent reaching, stooping, and bending. Manual dexterity, mobility, touch, auditory to perform all the related duties of the position.
