Internship Details

Duration: 11 weeks, full-time

Dates of Internship: June 1, 2026 - August 14, 2026

Location: South Bend, IN  

Compensation: Paid internship; relocation assistance available for qualified candidates

Eligibility: Preferred candidates are rising juniors and seniors (Dec 2026 through June 2028 graduation) who are currently enrolled in a relevant degree program; however, all current students pursuing related studies are encouraged to apply.

About the Team:

The highly skilled clinical lab team in South Bend provides a range of services for hospital-based clients including chemistry, hematology, urinalysis, microbiology, and molecular testing in a fast-paced environment. 

Internship Assignment Summary:

Assist the pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical phases through troubleshooting specimen related problems, dispatching couriers, receiving patient specimens, and processing microbiology cultures

Build skills and knowledge in all areas of the clinical laboratory to gain a better understanding of functions

Perform lab assistant and specimen processing duties
Engage in professional development working with the EHS and Quality committees

Gain insight into regulatory and accreditation requirements that govern clinical laboratories

Education/Qualifications/Skills:

Working towards bachelor’s degree in microbiology, chemistry, biochemistry, biology or Medical Laboratory Science (Preferred), or other bioscience related majors

Demonstrated ability to work effectively in fast paced high-volume environment and while prioritizing and managing multiple tasks

Basic computer knowledge and data entry skills; experience with Microsoft Office applications preferred

Strong communication skills: both written and verbal

Career goals that align with working in a medical diagnostic or anatomical pathology lab as a technologist

High level of attention to detail

Comfortability with handling biological specimens, such as blood, tissue, cells, stool, or urine

Ability to communicate, think creatively, and embrace an ever-evolving career field

Embraces diverse ways of thinking through various forms of collaboration and partnership
