Basic Qualifications:

Must be enrolled in a bachelor’s degree or graduate degree program by the start of employment.Minimum completion of Sophomore level coursework from an accredited institution.Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Preferred Qualifications:

Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program related to the field of Environmental Health & Safety. (Environmental Health Science, Environmental Health and Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science and/or Environmental Engineering Technology)Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Teams, etc.)Must be proficient working in a Microsoft systems environment. Prior Internship work experience.Strong verbal and written communication skillsExcellent analytical skills

Salary: This is a salaried, non‑exempt position offering $52,000 annually, and the position is overtime‑eligible under California labor laws, with overtime paid in addition to base salary. 

Howmet Fastening Systems (HFS) is seeking a Environmental Health & Safety Intern in our Torrance, California location.

 

We are seeking highly motivated and energetic students for the 2026 summer intern program at Howmet Fastening Systems. The program consists of 10-12 weeks of structured hands-on training involving plant tours, seminars, networking events, and projects selected to add direct value to the business. At the conclusion of the program, interns will present their projects to plant managers, supervisors, and mentors. An internship at Howmet Fastenings Systems will provide an invaluable experience that you can utilize in any roles, and it’s Howmet Aerospace’s goal to evaluate our interns for potential entry-level openings.

 

This position will report directly to the site’s Environmental Health & Safety Manager with daily coaching from the team’s engineers and technicians. The Howmet Aerospace Summer Internship Program will include engaging in impactful projects to assist the company and the student’s professional development.

 

Focus on noise sampling and noise reduction projects (noise is our highest employee exposure – lessons learned from this activity could also be shared and applied across other HFS sites)

 

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Able to work full time, onsite for a minimum of 12 consecutive weeks beginning in May or June 2026Able to provide own transportation for position at Torrance, California.Relocation assistance not provided
