Internship Details

Duration: 11 weeks, full-timeDates of Internship: June 1, 2026 - August 14, 2026Location: Westborough, MACompensation: Paid internship; relocation assistance available for qualified candidatesEligibility: Preferred candidates are rising juniors and seniors (Dec 2026 through June 2028 graduation) who are currently enrolled in a relevant degree program; however, all current students pursuing related studies are encouraged to apply.

About the Team:

Join Labcorp Clinical Bioinformatics Team for a unique summer internship experience where you can apply cutting-edge computational approaches to address clinical, operational, and financial challenges, as part of our research and development efforts to create innovative solutions to deliver world-class diagnostics solutions to improve health and improve lives.

This internship provides an opportunity to tackle challenging bioinformatics and data science issues, accelerate critical production development, and interact with staff scientists. You will gain valuable hand-on experience in the exciting fields of bioinformatics and AI in clinical testing, all while making a meaningful impact at Labcorp. 

As an intern, you'll work on specific bioinformatics/AI projects under the guidance of our Clinical Bioinformatics Team to solve real-life problems using a wide range of computational approaches and integrating various data sources for clinical testing.

Internship Assignment Summary:

Focus: Next-Generation Sequencing Data Analysis for Clinical Testing

Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

Collaborate with staff scientists to set up in-house/cloud computing environmentsCompile relevant data from public sources and proprietary databasesDesign, configure, refine, train, and test data analysis pipelinesDocument results and present findings to Labcorp scientists

Project examples:

Copy number analysisStructural variant detectionVariant detection in challenging genomic regionsNon-coding regulatory variant analysisApplying deep learning and data mining for biological/disease insightsDeveloping diagnostic tools and computational analysis pipelines

Education/Qualifications/Skills:

Working towards a Master’s or Doctor’s degree in computer science, data sciences, bioinformatics, or a related fieldStrong problem-solving skills with an inquisitive and analytical mindsetExcellent verbal and written communication skillsCapability to work independently and as part of a teamAbility to see the big picture and work towards long-term goalsTechnical Skills:Strong programming experience in Python or RFamiliarity with machine learning conceptsKnowledge of or experience with cloud computingBasic understanding of genomics, database systems, and biology (helpful but not required)This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship

Pay Range: $35-$40/hr

All job offers will be based on a candidate’s skills and prior relevant experience, applicable degrees/certifications, as well as internal equity and market data. 

Benefits: Employees regularly scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week are eligible for comprehensive benefits including: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, STD/LTD, 401(k), Paid Time Off (PTO) or Flexible Time Off (FTO), Tuition Reimbursement and Employee Stock Purchase Plan.  Casual, PRN & Part Time employees regularly scheduled to work less than 20 hours are eligible to participate in the 401(k) Plan only. For more detailed information, please click here.
