Learn more at https://www.jnj.com/medtech We currently have one Summer Intern position in the Cellular & Molecular Toxicology (CMT) group within Translational Pharmacokinetics, Pharmacodynamics & Investigative Toxicology (TPPIT) at Johnson & Johnson, La Jolla, to participate in studies providing cellular, molecular, biochemical, and/or mechanistic assay support for investigation of target organ toxicity. The successful candidate will be familiar with a variety of basic laboratory techniques and have a desire to work in a laboratory environment. This position will provide a currently enrolled undergraduate student the opportunity to develop their skills in cell culture, in vitro immunoassays, biochemical, and cell-based assays. They will work as part of a highly matrixed team in a pharmaceutical laboratory setting. This direct exposure will allow the student to participate in the planning, execution, analysis, and reporting of experiments under the guidance of experienced scientists. Interested candidates should have a strong desire to learn the drug development process and contribute to improving the health of people worldwide. **Qualifications and Experience** + Current undergraduate students (cannot be graduating before the conclusion of the internship) working towards a degree in Biochemistry, Biology, Molecular Biology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or other life science-related fields. + Knowledge of basic hands-on laboratory skills including pipetting, making stock solutions, and dilutions is required. + Basic understanding of the concepts of cell culture techniques, dosing cells, and cell-based assays is required. + Experience with documenting experiments through a lab notebook is required. + The candidate must be scientifically curious and demonstrate a willingness to learn new approaches in the fields of cell biology, molecular biology, toxicology, and microphysiological systems. + The candidate must be detail-oriented, with excellent organizational and record-keeping skills. + Experience in analyzing and reporting data results with programs such as GraphPad Prism, Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint is preferred. + Candidates must have authorization to work in the US and a minimum GPA of 2.8. Permanently authorized to work in the U.S., must not require sponsorship of an employment visa (e.g., H-1B or green card) at the time of application or in the future. Students currently on CPT, OPT, or STEM OPT usually requires future sponsorship for long term employment and do not meet the requirements for this program unless eligible for an alternative long-term status that does not require company sponsorship. The expected pay range for this position is between $26.50 per hour and $59.00 per hour but will be based on candidate's program year, discipline, degree and/or experience. Co-Ops/Interns are eligible to participate in Company sponsored employee medical benefits in accordance with the terms of the plan. Co-Ops and Interns are eligible for the following sick time benefits: up to 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington, up to 56 hours per calendar year.
