About the Team:
As part of Global Immunology and Immunotoxicology (I&I) department and BioA team, provide support to Early Development Safety Assessment (SA), and standalone studies over a wide range of Immunology and Immunotoxicology platforms, supporting enhanced solutions-based approach to Clients requests.
The jobholder has specific scientific responsibilities which include participating in all procedures in the operational areas of I&I. These include assays, metrology and general laboratory support duties. The jobholder will assist the I&I team with some involvement in specialist functions and projects within the department.
Internship Assignment Summary:
The jobholder is expected to undertake technical responsibilities as required in the role of Intern.
The jobholder is required to complete all of their university requirements on time and of a high standard that reflects the standards expected at Labcorp.
The jobholder is required to display appropriate awareness of revenue generating implications during performance of their operational duties.
The jobholder is expected to support other scientific activities as required and is expected to be professional at all times.
Understand and comply with all departmental and company policies.
The jobholder is expected to undertake the following additional duties and responsibilities:
Quality
To ensure quality/timeliness of all personal work performed meets required standards.
To implement and maintain quality improvement and measurement initiatives for processes under the jobholder’s local control.
Help to review and update methods (AP/WDs) where necessary and ensure compliance with all written procedures.
Training and Recruitment
To maintain accurate and timely completed training records.
To participate in all appropriate internal/external training and education activities.
To undergo training as required in I&I functions and work towards the specific competency levels required for an Intern
Scientific /Technical
To be competent in routine operational procedures for a comprehensive range of I&I studies and participate in cross-training
To ensure project provided is performed and delivery to the standard and timelines provided
To ensure studies are performed in accordance with regulatory, productivity and timescale requirements.
To ensure the Senior Operations Manager and Senior Scientists remain updated on performance of such studies.
Document quality control results, be able to recognize and communicate any trends with the Senior Scientists.
To be able to provide, analyze and discuss scientific data collected during specialised testing.
To participate in the introduction of new techniques, validation of methodologies and relevant procedures in collaboration with the Technical Specialist and Senior Scientists.
Regulatory
To have a clear understanding of GLP/GCP/SOPs, study plans/protocols and methods (Ap/WDs)and their implications for I&I, and to work in strict accordance with them at all times. Principally this will entail adherence to the relevant Good Laboratory Practice regulations as issued by the NMPA, FDA and OECD.
To maintain accurate and timely completion of personal training record (paper) and the SOP reading register.
To be responsible for using designated I&I metrology systems to ensure compliance under current regulatory requirements.
Miscellaneous
To personally comply with company and departmental safety regulations at all times.
To maintain housekeeping, ensuring all areas under jobholder’s control are kept clean and tidy.
To ensure open and honest communication at all times and actively encourage new ideas and positive thinking among all personnel. To promote good relationships with all other departments maintaining close liaison on matters of mutual interest.
To comply with company and departmental requirements pertaining to security and confidentiality considerations.
To carry out any duties not specified but might reasonably be expected of a Laboratory Scientist I in this position
Education/Qualifications/Skills:
Bachelor of Science/Arts (BS/BA) degree in chemistry/biology/ immunology or related scientific field
Familiar with the use of standard laboratory equipment.
Basic knowledge of computers and software programs.
