We are looking for talented software engineers to join our global Velocity Black by Capital One engineering team, with the opportunity to specialize in frontend, backend or work in a full stack capacity. As a Software Development Engineer, you’ll have the opportunity to be on the forefront of driving a major transformation with the marrying of these two innovative companies. The service we offer and build upon is unlike anything ever built before, and our product is rapidly evolving. Velocity Black is our core product, built in React Native and offering exclusive access and unbeatable word-wide service across Travel, Experiences, Luxury Goods and Dining. Our internal and bespoke request management platform, Gravity, is built with React and Node.js micro services, virtually augmenting our expert customer service agents with AI, delivering the unrivalled personal service our members expect and love.
About the Role
As an engineer on Velocity Black you will be working with a small but passionate team, and have a great deal of autonomy. You should be self-driven, willing to take ownership, ask the right questions and seek knowledge when necessary. If you think innovatively, and like to embrace bleeding edge technology, with a pragmatic approach, you will enjoy working here. You will have the opportunity to work on different layers of the technology stack (React Native, NodeJS, AWS) and collaborate with many cross organization teams to help achieve our mission. You will be involved in building infrastructure, feature development, testing (unit test, component test and integration test), deployment, monitoring and fixing cyber security and vulnerability fixes.

Language: TypeScript/JavaScript (NodeJS, React, React Native)
AWS: S3, Lambda, Route53, Security Groups, IAM roles
Monitoring Tool: Cloudwatch, NewRelic, Splunk
CI/CD: Jenkins, OnePipeline (Capital One’s innersourced CICD pipeline)
Your Responsibilities:
Work as part of a dynamic team throughout the software development life cycle
Develop code to meet story acceptance criteria
Conduct design and code reviews to ensure high-level quality output
Ensure adherence to continuous improvement practices as required to meet quality, and time to market imperatives
Participate in Agile ceremonies, design and brainstorming sessions
Collaborate with Product and Analyst stakeholders to implement enhancements or new applications
Technical Documentation for analysis, test results and release.
Learn and build AWS cloud infrastructure on the job

Basic Qualifications:
Will obtain a Bachelor’s degree or higher from January 2026 or later
Familiarity with application development using any backend programming language, and JavaScript.
Good communication, presentation, and writing skills
Good understanding of testing fundamentals
Able to work within a team setting and actively participate and collaborate in team discussions
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with backend technologies such as Node, AWS Lambda, S3
Experience with frontend technologies such as React Native, Android / iOS development
Experience with version control technology i.e. Git
Experience with Jenkins CI/CD, microservices, API design / integration
