Job Description

The AI Center of Excellence (COE) at Rockwell Automation is seeking a self-driven Intern to contribute to the development of learning-enabled control solutions for complex, nonlinear dynamical systems. You will work closely with AI COE researchers and engineers on applying deep learning and modern control techniques to real-world industrial systems.

This internship offers hands-on exposure to state-of-the-art AI for control, bridging theory and deployment in industrial environments.

Your Responsibilities:

Develop and evaluate AI-driven control and system identification methods for nonlinear dynamical systems

Apply learning techniques to improve control performance and robustness

Collaborate with researchers and engineers on prototyping, experimentation, and analysis

Document and communicate technical findings clearly

The Essentials - You Will Have:

Currently pursuing a bachelors or advanced degree from an accredited college or university.

The Preferred - You Might Also Have:

Strong foundation in control theory and system identification (e.g., Koopman-based methods, MPC)

Solid understanding of machine learning and deep learning

Proficiency in Python

Experience with ML/DL frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow, Keras)

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

Exposure to MLOps concepts and tools

Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)

Front-end or visualization experience (e.g., React, Angular, Vue) is a plus

For this role, the Base Salary Compensation is from $22/hour - $40/hour. Our benefits for the US can be found here. Actual pay will be based on factors such as skills, knowledge, education, and experience.
