Job PurposeWe are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Ab Initio Developer with 3 to 5 years of experience in Data Integration. The candidate will be part of a collaborative data engineering team responsible for designing and maintaining data integration solutions using Ab Initio. This role offers a strong opportunity for growth through hands-on experience in enterprise-level data projects and mentorship from senior developers.
Job Responsibilities Assist in the design, development, and maintenance of Graphs using Ab Initio GDE, Conduct>It, and related components. Support data extraction, transformation, and loading operations across various source systems and databases. Maintain and troubleshoot Ab>initio Full stack product (Metadata hub, Authorization Gateway, Control Center, Query>IT, Express>It). Work with data analysts and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into technical specifications. Conduct unit testing and support QA testing efforts to ensure data accuracy and integrity. Maintain and troubleshoot Ab Initio jobs in development and production environments. Participate in regular code reviews and follow best practices in code versioning and documentation. Monitor and enhance ETL job performance and help resolve issues within defined SLAs. Minimum Experience Level 3–5 years of experience with Ab Initio ETL development. Basic to intermediate knowledge of Ab Initio components: GDE, EME, and Conduct>It, Metadata hub. Proficient in SQL and working with relational databases like Postgres, SQL Server, or DB2 Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and data integration best practices. Exposure to Unix/Linux environments and shell scripting. Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail. Good communication and documentation skills. Ability to organize and prioritize the assigned tasks Essential Qualifications - NQF Level Advanced Diplomas/National 1st Degrees Diploma Qualification Detail Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field
Preferred Qualifications:
Exposure to Ab>initio data quality tools or job scheduling tools (e.g., Autosys, Control-M). Experience in Agile/Scrum development environments. Familiarity with big data tools (Hadoop/Spark) or cloud platforms (AWS/Azure) is a plus. Interest in learning advanced Ab Initio components and evolving into a senior developer role.
