**Introduction**
This role provides an opportunity to work within a small team within IBM Research, outside of the traditional "CIO" mission. We develop a custom application that is used to run IBM's Intellectual Property mission, with end-to-end sales/deal lifecycle management and analytics.
**Your role and responsibilities**
This role is for a Software Developer in the Intellectual Property team, focused on full-stack development. The responsibilities of this role are:
1. Participate in demanding development sprints, delivering code that is "first time right".
2. Contribute to specification/design of components within our application ecosystem. Predominantly using Java, although some use of Python will also be required.
3. Thorough understanding and ability to design/create/modify DB2 schemas, tables, queries, indicies, etc.
4. Thorough understanding and ability to design/create/modify ElasticSearch databases, indicies and complex queries.
5. Understanding and general abilities of FE development/technologies - including the DOM structure and operating model, and native JavaScript.
**Required technical and professional expertise**
1. At least 10 years of software development, full stack, across a variety of technologies.
2. At least 5 years working in an area related to Intellectual Property. A deep understanding of how an IP organization works, and how the deal cycle work, is a hard requirement for this role.
3. Deep understanding of Java, with a proven track record of delivering exceptional Java code.
4. Deep understanding of IBM's DB2 on Cloud, with a proven track record of acting in a DBA role for a complex SW development project.
5. Deep understanding of ElasticSearch, with evidence of creating complex ES databases, indicies and queries that are highly performant.
6. Experience with AI, including IBM's watsonx offerings and ecosystem.
