Division: Office of Consumer Services/Complaints
The Louisiana Department of Insurance is seeking a motivated and detail-orientedInsurance Specialist 1to join the Consumer Complaints Division. This division serves as the front line for assisting Louisiana policyholders by investigating consumer complaints, resolving disputes, and ensuring insurers, agents, and adjusters comply with state insurance laws. In this role, you will evaluate complaints, conduct investigations, communicate with consumers and industry representatives, and help uphold fairness in the insurance marketplace. Minimum Qualifications
Three years of experience in insurance, administrative services, investigations, or law enforcement; OR
Six years of full-time work experience in any field; OR
A bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
As an Insurance Specialist 1 in the Consumer Complaints Division, you will:
+ Investigate consumer complaints by reviewing records, policies, and insurer practices for compliance with Louisiana insurance laws.
+ Communicate with consumers and insurers, providing clear explanations, correspondence, and resolution updates.
+ Research and apply insurance laws and regulations to evaluate cases and draft responses.
+ Collaborate with colleagues and leadership to resolve complex issues and make recommendations.
+ Support consumer education and outreach by answering inquiries and providing resources.
+ Participate in training and professional development to build expertise across insurance products.

Compensation: The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
