Job Description
We are seeking a Surplus Lines Tax Filing Specialist to provide administrative and operational support to our surplus lines and compliance teams. This role is crucial in the final stage of the surplus lines process, ensuring accurate tax reporting, documentation, and state filings. The team is currently managing a high volume of new and backlogged filings, and this position is designed to bring filings up to date and maintain ongoing compliance. This is a fast-paced, detail-oriented role that requires strong organizational skills, comfort with manual processes, and the ability to work across internal teams.
Responsibilities
Support the surplus lines tax filing process, including preparation of reports and supporting documentation required for state filings.Compile, review, and reconcile policy, billing, and tax-related data to ensure accuracy and compliance.Coordinate closely with internal teams including underwriting, service, billing & collections, licensing, and compliance.Extract and organize information from the agency management system to support tax filings.Maintain and update spreadsheets used for tracking filings, reconciliations, and reporting.Assist with resolving discrepancies to ensure tax filings align with billing and collection records.Follow established procedures and SOPs, contributing to consistency and accuracy across filings.Manage a high volume of work in a role where priorities shift frequently.Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders (no client-facing interaction).Essential Skills
Prior administrative and organizational skills.Working knowledge of general accounting principles.Proficiency in Excel and ability to digest and reconcile detailed data.Comfort working in manual, process-driven environments.Strong attention to detail and follow-through.Ability to manage workload in a fast-paced, evolving environment.Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with surplus lines tax filings.Background in insurance licensing or regulatory compliance.Familiarity with agency management systems (experience with Nexsure is a plus).Experience supporting billing, reconciliation, or reporting functions.Work Environment
This is a full-time position with a 40-hour workweek, offering a flexible schedule within 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The work environment is fast-paced and requires attention to detail and organizational skills.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Neenah, WI.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $24.00 - $24.00/hr.
