WG-10 - $31.59 - $36.82 Responsibilities You will be responsible for the layout, fabrication, assembly and installation of materials aboard ships, barges, and boats. You will develop patterns and layout, cut, form, join, assemble and install all types of insulating materials on systems such as pipes, turbines, air ducts, heaters, generators and various other items. You will remove, replace, and repair all insulating materials. You will fabricate portable, removable, and replaceable sections of insultation for valves and similar fittings. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION: * Performing more complex mathematical calculations, to measure and identify the precise dimensions of irregular shaped valves, flanges, fittings, and other unique structures. * Ability to insert lacing rings, washers, hooks, and grommets into insulating covers and fasten them with wire. * Utilizing algebra and geometry to calculate and perform a variety of linear, angular, cubic, and circular measurements. * Ability to plan and layout, repair, and modify projects to ensure the uniform finish, stability, and continuity of insulating qualities. * Reading and interpreting blueprints, sketches, drawings, Process Instructions, specifications, and project plans. Education Additional Information This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. Several vacancies may be filled. The position often requires irregular hours. This position requires rotating shift work. This position requires evening and weekend work. This position requires exposure to high noise levels.
