What You'll Do:

As a Instrumentation, Electrical & Controls Reliability Engineer you'll be at the forefront of our innovation for identifying, analyzing, and reducing safety and business risks associated with our instrumentation and control systems reliability. The Instrumentation, Electrical & Controls Reliability Engineer will directly influence how equipment criticality is determined, which maintenance strategies are the most appropriate for the equipment, and how the site's CMMS is best utilized to achieve the desired result. The Instrumentation, Electrical & Controls Reliability Engineer will also be responsible for determining and implementing long-term improvements to the site's maintenance practices, with an emphasis on predictive maintenance techniques, data-driven decision making, and integration of modern technology with technicians on the shop floor. In addition, this opportunity will provide input to the site's long term capital plan across all plant areas. The Instrumentation, Electrical & Controls Reliability Engineer will review and provide input into capital projects (managed by others) concerning the reliability and maintainability of planned equipment, manage capital projects directly related to reliability and maintenance support, and consulted by and consult with other engineering and craft disciplines like Maintenance Planners, Process / Project Engineers, Multi-craft Maintenance Technicians, and related roles. This opportunity will be reporting directly to the Maintenance & Reliability Leader.

 

What We're Looking For:

Ensures safe operations by observing all relevant and required Health, Safety, Environmental and Security (HSES) procedures, includes taking action on identified risks from PHA reviews. Works directly with Maintenance & Reliability personnel for the implementation of various asset management strategies. Responsible for development and oversight of the site's various predictive and preventative maintenance programs that pertain to instrumentation, valves, interlocks and control systems. Responsible for developing and implementing strategies for spares & obsolescence management. Serves as a subject matter expert for instrumentation and control system. Serves as a champion for implementing improvements to shop equipment and maintenance methods. Provides leadership and technical oversight for the site's criticality analysis and ranking system for utility and process systems. Provides leadership and coordination for equipment failure related root cause investigations (RCI/RCAs) and follow up actions. Develops engineering solutions to maintenance problems, including methods of reducing or eliminating the need for maintenance through equipment replacement or improvement work. Scopes, estimates and manages smaller capital projects (<$250K) related to maintenance and reliability functions for process equipment and plant infrastructure, while ensuring capital projects are completed within the defined parameters for quality, schedule, and budget. Assists in updating drawings and maintenance data, coordinating this effort with production and project engineering resources. Participates on teams with operations, engineering, and maintenance team to identify, prioritize, and execute plant improvement opportunities. Supports other plant and departmental initiatives as directed by management.

 

Skills That Make a Difference:

Bachelor’s degree in Reliability, Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering (or a related discipline). 3+ years of reliability and/or maintenance experience in a chemical, or closely related, manufacturing environment. Experience with: Computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), with a strong preference for SAP CMMS. Modern maintenance inspection equipment (calibration tools, IR / thermal imaging, Ultrasonic, etc) Alarm management in asset management software and control systems. Modern asset performance monitoring techniques. Distributed control system (DCS), DeltaV and ABB systems, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), control wiring, terminal blocks, low voltage fusing, etc. Analog Instrumentation; Temperature, pressure, level, flow, rotational speed, conductivity, pH, etc. Discrete Instrumentation; solenoids, limit switches, etc. Calibration for Analog and Discrete Instrumentation Good communication ability with management, engineers, maintenance personnel, and plant operators. Ability to manage several projects simultaneously, keeping them all on schedule and within budget.

 

Considered a Plus: 

15+ years of experience in a reliability or multi-craft industrial maintenance technician with exceptional talent. Industrial maintenance and reliability training or certifications (CRE, CMRP, or CMRT). Familiarity with OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) and related PSM topics. Familiarity with ISO 9001 and quality management.
