The Western Kentucky University Department of Applied Human Sciences is pleased to announce we are seeking candidates for a nine-month, non-tenure eligible faculty appointment at the rank of Instructor I in the Interior Design program with an expected start date of January 2026.
The Department of Applied Human Sciences is part of the College of Health and Human Services and offers undergraduate concentrations in Hotel, Restaurant, and Tourism Management; Nutrition and Dietetics; Food, Nutrition, and Wellness; Family and Consumer Sciences Education; Child Studies, Family Studies; Interior Design; and Fashion Merchandising. Seventeen full-time faculty members serve approximately 800 undergraduate students in the department.
The ideal candidate will have the ability to teach a variety of undergraduate courses across the Interior Design curriculum. Teaching responsibilities include, but are not limited to, lighting and environmental controls, studio courses, visual design, and portfolio design. Additional duties include but are not limited to: development and delivery of online courses; development and delivery of face-to-face courses; curriculum development; collaboration with student organizations and relevant industry groups; promotion of the program; student advisement, hold weekly in person office hours, community service; recruitment events, and participation on departmental, college and university committees. This position requires the delivery of in person classes.

Job Requirements:
+ Interior Design or Architecture undergraduate degree and a graduate degree in Interior Design, Architecture or related discipline.
+ Proficient in design software including AutoCad, Adobe, Photoshop, and Revit.
