Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

- Create a welcoming environment that fosters community and learning among program participants while interacting with a diverse population.
- Develop resource materials, design lesson plans, and teach varied subjects such as job readiness, independent living skills, ASL, English, Financial Literacy, Civics, Computer Literacy, and Health Literacy.
- Deliver group instruction at DRA and conduct one-on-one instruction through home visits or on-site at DRA.
- Assist the Education Coordinator with organizing field trips, creating language-rich environments, and implementing any new developments for the Education program.
- Maintain participant and project data, and document student progress and outcomes.
- Supply reports to the Education Coordinator promptly.
- Additional responsibilities deemed necessary for the agency’s functioning and operations.

Key Competencies: Deaf and International cultural awareness, knowledge, and sensitivity; Effective receptive and expressive communication skills appropriate for engaging with internationally diverse Deaf individuals; Organization and planning skills; Interpersonal and networking skills, Writing and presentation skills; Decision-making and problem-solving skills, Instructional technology, and curriculum utilization skills.

Key Expectations: Possess a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle; Residing within Monroe County is highly preferred. Possess own mobile phone with ISP plan; Flexibility in working hours and availability for occasional work during the weeknight and weekend.

Status: Part-time, Hourly & Nonexempt, Reports to Education Coordinator.

Hourly pay range: $35 to 45.
