Instructional Coordinator

Would you like to make a difference in the lives of young Montanans? * *The Montana Youth Challenge Academy (MYCA) is seeking an Instructional Coordinator.* The Instructional Coordinator is responsible for directing and overseeing structured academic instruction, oversight and review of curriculum to ensure compliance. This position establishes curriculum standards; develops and evaluates curriculum; performs program administration and classroom instruction duties; and other duties as assigned to support MYCA mission and goals. Montana Youth Challenge Academy provides two 22-week sessions of development, per year, for approximately 110 youth participants ranging in age from 16 to 18 years in each session. Occasional travel and weekend work may be required. *Duties:* · Directs, plans, and coordinates the Montana Youth Challenge Academy’s education and core curriculum program operations and activities. This involves overseeing the development, approval, and implementation of core curricula and related lesson plans to ensure optimal delivery of courses to program participants and compatibility with program mission and goals and state and federal education requirements. · Reviews and approves textbook, material, and equipment requests. This involves determining availability of financial resources; ensuring compliance with MYCA procurement practices, evaluating requests and justifications; and overseeing the integration of materials and equipment into instruction practices to ensure maximization of resources. · Coordinates with the Cadre Activities Supervisor, Deputy Director of Operations, and others to develop and maintain schedules for training, student attendance, graduation, and all other educational and training needs. · Participates on various MYCA boards (e.g., discipline, investigation, scholarships and awards, etc.) to provide information on academic progress, classroom behavior, and academic potential. Recommends courses of action regarding academic issues, and clarifies and/or justifies recommendations by providing expert testimony based on professional judgment, evaluation of student information, and potential for student success. · Ensures quality and integrity of academic records are in compliance with MYCA, State, and federal reporting requirements. · Oversees field trips, supplemental activities and instruction, and contacts with others outside the program (e.g., content experts, methods students, college representatives, etc.) to support and enhance student success; increase exposure to new experiences and opportunities; and ensure that participants adhere to MYCP requirements. · Directs and oversees the academic tutoring program by identifying academic needs; recruiting qualified tutors, training personnel, assigning tutors and students; and monitoring student progress. · Directly supervises four staff positions (4.0 FTE) plus substitute teachers, up to six core component teachers and contractors as needed, involved with the MYCA education program. *Minimum Qualifications:* · Bachelor’s Degree in education, business administration, public administration, behavioral or social sciences or a related field.
