Job Summary:
Under general supervision, assists instructor/teacher with providing education and/or training to
students. Prepares instructional materials and maintains order and cleanliness in the learning
environment. Plans and conducts child development activities. Monitors and supervises various
classroom functions.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
• Assists in presenting subject matter
• Assists instructor/teacher in maintaining an effective learning environment
• Assists students with meeting and maintaining individual physical needs
• Completes documentation of student progress
• Distributes teaching materials
• Keeps records of daily observations and information about activities
• Observes and evaluates individual children
• Operates duplicating machines and other equipment as needed to produce or reproduce
program related materials
• Prepares lesson materials, bulletin board displays, exhibits, equipment, and
demonstrations
• Request and maintain assigned classroom supplies, materials and equipment
• Sanitizes toys and play equipment
• Tutors and assists individually or in small groups to reinforce learning concepts
Entry Qualifications:
High School diploma/GED and one (1) year of experience working in an instructional/childcare
setting; or one (1) year of experience required at the lower-level Instruction Paraprofessional 1
(EDS010) or position equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications:
In addition to Entry Qualifications, Preferred Qualifications may be added by the agency.
