Job Description:

Parsons is looking for a qualified Tunnel Inspector to join our infrastructure supervision team. The successful candidate will be responsible for on-site inspection and monitoring of tunnel construction activities, ensuring all works are carried out in accordance with project specifications, design drawings, and safety standards.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Inspect tunneling works, including excavation, support systems (e.g., shotcrete, rock bolts), waterproofing, lining, and structural elements.

Monitor tunnel construction methods such as NATM, cut-and-cover, TBM, or microtunneling (depending on project scope).

Verify that construction activities comply with approved drawings, method statements, and quality control plans.

Ensure proper installation and alignment of tunnel infrastructure including drainage systems, ventilation ducts, cable trays, and access facilities.

Conduct daily inspections and maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and site conditions.

Report non-conformances, safety issues, and site concerns to the Resident Engineer.

Coordinate with other inspectors and engineering staff to resolve interface and sequencing issues.

Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and health regulations in confined space environments.

What Required Skills You’ll Bring:

Diploma or Technical Certificate in Civil Engineering or related field.

Minimum 8 years of experience in tunnel construction supervision, including underground or subsurface infrastructure works.

Sound understanding of tunnel construction techniques, support systems, and safety protocols.

Ability to read and interpret tunnel design drawings and specifications.

Strong observational and reporting skills, with fluency in English.

What Desired Skills You’ll Bring:

Experience on major tunnel projects (e.g., stormwater, utility, road, or metro tunnels).

Familiarity with confined space entry protocols and tunnel safety procedures.

Knowledge of international tunneling standards and best practices.

Previous work experience in the GCC region is an advantage.
