Inspector
InspectorPerform quality control for VDOT Roadway construction, including field soils, concrete, asphalt, and aggregate testing, ensuring compliance with contract specifications.Conduct materials testing such as nuclear gauge soil and aggregate density.Review and test concrete deliveries in accordance with VDOT and ACI standards.Verify construction of Roadway and Highway materials to comply with drawings, specifications, and contract documents.Monitor and observe contractual fieldwork under supervision, including excavations, drainage facilities, and pile driving.Advise supervisors of non-conforming field tests and record daily production and test results.Complete daily reports with attached VDOT materials testing forms and receive materials delivery tickets for compliance.Take assignments and direction from Quality Control Lead Management and Inspectors.Maintain all required certifications and participate in training courses as required.

Essential Skills

Transportation and construction inspection skills.Experience in soils testing, aggregate testing, and asphalt testing.Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and ACI certification.Ability to communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and staff.Ability to accurately record and report daily forms per project requirements.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Candidates with at least one certification if they do not have a degree.Engineering degree holders can be considered for entry-level positions.Active ACI Certification, Soils and Aggregate, Concrete, or Erosion and Sediment certifications are a plus.0-2+ years of construction experience or experience working outdoors.Ability to work night shifts and weekends with prior notice.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $30.00/hr.
