Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Inspection Engineer to support inspection activities for a major oil and gas infrastructure project in Tanzania. This position will work closely with the Inspection Leader and a team of specialists to ensure the safe and efficient operation of critical pipeline and related infrastructure. The role involves coordinating inspections, ensuring compliance with technical standards, and managing key assets, including pipelines, vessels, fire heaters, storage tanks, lifting equipment, and more.
Key Responsibilities: Manage and optimize inspection activities and services contracts. Analyze inspection reports and follow up on corrective actions for equipment and infrastructure. Ensure all relevant registers, including welding qualifications and repair databases, are up to date. Lead or assist with inspections of critical assets such as pipelines, pressure vessels, and lifting equipment. Participate in audits, technical reviews, and inspection program planning. Ensure compliance with company HSEQ policies, life-saving rules, and local regulations. Act as the deputy for the Inspection Lead during their absence. Review and recommend actions for material selection, equipment design, and corrosion prevention. Develop and monitor the performance of inspection scopes and campaigns, including KPIs and progress tracking. Academic Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or similar in Mechanics, Materials Engineering, or a related field with a focus on materials, metallurgy, and corrosion. Good knowledge of oil and gas process equipment, piping, and industry standards (e.g., ASME, API, NACE). Familiarity with Risk-Based Inspection (RBI) methodology and Fitness for Service (API RP 579, ASME, DNV, etc.). Proficiency in Computerized Maintenance & Inspection Management Systems (CMIMS). ERB Registration as a Professional Engineer. Experience Required: Minimum of 6 years' experience in inspection roles within the Oil & Gas, Refinery, or Petrochemical industries. Experience leading or supervising inspection teams and managing field shut-down inspection scope. Expertise in welding, corrosion, non-destructive testing (NDT), and failure mode analysis. Skills and Competencies: Strong knowledge of international inspection codes, standards, and regulations. Excellent communication skills in both oral and written English. Proficiency in analyzing technical inspection findings and making recommendations. Ability to work effectively in high-pressure environments and manage multiple priorities.
