Join Spectrum as an Inside Plant Engineer II, where you’ll troubleshoot, maintain and enhance network elements and connections across Voice, Internet, Video and access services. Your skills will help deliver seamless connectivity and reliable service for thousands of customers every day, making a tangible difference in our operations.
Shift desired: Tues-Sat, 3:00 pm-12:00 am
How You’ll Make an Impact
Troubleshoot, maintain and support network elements and connections to ensure optimum performance and service deliveryInstall, configure and operate headend equipment, including coaxial, fiber and Ethernet cabling, adhering to proper engineering practicesMonitor and maintain environmental systems such as HVAC, power, fire suppression and coordinate with vendors for reliable operationsConduct root cause analysis, perform acceptance testing and handle escalated trouble calls for network and facility issuesMaintain logs, records and documentation to comply with Spectrum and FCC technical requirementsExecute daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly testing, logging and facility inspections according to Spectrum proceduresDevelop and implement network enhancements and support backup power systems, utilizing advanced troubleshooting toolsWorking Conditions

Required Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics/Technology or Sciences or equivalent work experience preferredNCTI Fiber Installation & Activation Course, Valid Certification from the Society of Cable Telecommunication Engineers (SCTE) BTCS, and NCTI Fiber Testing & Maintenance Course or NCTI Master Technician CertificationExperience
4+ years of Headend Technician, Network implementation or electronics work experienceSkills
Knowledge of related industry specifications and standards IEEE, ANSI, Physical Media/Cabling Intermediate understanding of being an individual contributor within operations team and working to achieve team and organizational goalsAbility to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to solve complex issuesIntermediate knowledge of Fiber test equipment – OTDR, OSAIntermediate knowledge of RF Signal DeliveryIntermediate knowledge in TCP/IP and the OSI ModelBasic knowledge of network devices; routing and switching hardwareIntermediate knowledge of Critical infrastructure – HVAC, Generators, DC Plants and invertersIntermediate operational knowledge of DOCSIS architecture and capacity managementIntermediate knowledge in using ticketing and software tools to support the current operationsIntermediate knowledge of design software such as Microsoft VisioIntermediate knowledge of existing Charter Application/Network data sources, such as InCURBasic Knowledge in IPv4 and IPv6 IP AddressingBasic operational knowledge of Video/VOD/SDV Delivery systems including controllers, content acquisitionIntermediate knowledge of ISP PlaybookIntermediate skills in methodical, logical and process driven troubleshootingIntermediate knowledge of HFC design and operational experienceIntermediate Knowledge of Microwave CARS band and IP transport radios and their performanceIntermediate understanding of how to measure, detect, and record voltage, amperage, and resistanceDemonstrates effective communication skills, both verbal and writtenAbility to read, write and speak the English language to communicate with employees, customers, suppliers, in person, on the phone, and by written communications in a clear, straight-forward, and professional mannerIntermediate knowledge Fiber Coax (HFC) and DOCSIS/CMTSMust demonstrate the ability to adapt and change to ensure the successes of the businessAbility to drive Company vehicle in a safe and responsible mannerValid driver's license with satisfactory driving record within Company required standardsAbility to use personal computer, software applications, handheld communication devices and applicationsAbility to differentiate between different sizes and colors of wiresAbility to work with small components and wires to make cable connections within tight spaces by bending, reaching, and twistingAbility to use the following hand tools: electric drills, hammers, wrenches, screwdriversAbility to safely use weight-bearing equipment (such as ladders) within the maximum limitations of that equipment)Ability to read system layouts from blue prints, system maps, and measure distances using tapes or other measuring devicesAbility to operate appropriate computer or test equipment associated with positionAbility to prioritize and organize effectively and work independentlyKnowledge of basic mathematics and electronicsAdvanced knowledge of Transport Technologies CWDM, DWDM, SONET, T1, Ethernet and wireless technologiesDemonstrate advanced knowledge in the use of a computer to compile databases, create documents and interact with various GUI based interfacesDemonstrate advanced knowledge in design, installation and maintenance of critical systemsDemonstrate advanced knowledge of network test equipmentAbility to work while standing 50-70% of the timeAbility to safely lift up to 50lbs individually or with assistancePreferred Qualifications
