Inside Machinist Supervisor
**Job Description** We currently have an excellent opportunity for an Inside Machine Shop Supervisor to support the inside machine shops at our Jacksonville Florida Maritime Solutions location. This is a full-time position with occasional overtime as needed to better serve production demand. In this role, you will supervise experienced Inside Manual and CNC Machinists. Additionally, you may be required to go aboard customer vessels in support onsite machining efforts. To perform your duties, you will need to operate computers and equipment, as well as demonstrate strong math skills and must be capable and willing to work in a machining environment requiring the use of cutting fluids and oils. Inside machine shop personnel must operate with care at all times. Safety is important when working with metal, glass, plastics and composite materials. Some of the work involves heat-processed or lubricated items and the machines and parts they associated with them can be heavy and dangerous. There will be occasions you will have to go aboard customer vessels or visit alternate locations to make recommendations, determine and/or actually perform assigned tasks. Experience in CNC machining is as plus but not initially required. In this skilled trade, dependability and a strong work ethic is vital. **Essential Responsibilities** Set daily/weekly/monthly objectives and communicate them to team members. Organize workflow by assigning responsibilities and preparing schedules. Supervises all fabrication and finishing tasks of Inside Machine Shop Team Members. Attends meetings as required in support of own shop production or as assigned. Provide material and labor costs as required in support of planning and estimating. Maintain a clean and orderly Inside Machine Shop following prescribed safety standards. Maintains/purchases tools and materials in support of inside machine shop activities. Maintain proper documentation and reports as required. Completion of team member annual performance evaluations utilizing the appropriate skills matrix. Making requests and providing input to the department manager on the hiring of new team members. Balance quality, productivity, cost, safety, and morale to achieve positive results in all areas. Provide the required support to ensure team members achieve their daily goals in production. Monitor team performance measures and provide progress reports to the department manager. Work to continuously improve in all areas as related to the Inside Machinist Craft. Ensure the safe use of equipment and coordinate regular maintenance. Verify production output according to specifications. Identify issues in efficiency and productivity and make improvements. Track absenteeism and timekeeping. Ensure team members follow company policies and procedures. Inspect the work of team members and monitor work habits. Document, address, and resolve employee relations issues. Respond quickly and practically to emergencies, crises, or unexpected problems. Report ongoing issues or problems to department manager. Report team development and activities to the department manager. **Required Education, Experience, & Skills** Minimum high school diploma or equivalent required. 5 years of Inside Machinist Supervisory experience. Ability to read, understand and communicate information found on blueprints, technical drawings and shop sketches. Ability to use, read and understand precision measuring tools and gauges. Understands the metallurgical/machining properties of metal, plastic, glass and composite material. Mathematical and Mechanical aptitude as it is related to Inside Machine Shop activities. Ability to use Microsoft Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. When required, able to safely machine/repair components utilizing equipment such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, drill presses etc. Ability to climb stairs and lift up to 40 lbs. **PHYSICAL ACTIVITY AND REQUIREMENTS** The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job: Lifting, carrying, and/or moving up to 40 lbs. Frequent standing up to 100% Ability to use hands and fingers for grasping, pinching, pulling, pushing; rotating fingers, wrists, and hands; manipulation of tools, components and equipment. Ability to identify parts read understand and communicate blueprint information. **Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills** Ability to communicate effectively, speak, read/write in English and pay attention to detail. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
